1527 Arrived!

I just took delivery of my RG1527, Seymour Duncan 59 neck and JB bridge. Wow!! I always kinda underestimated Ibanezes, mostly owing to their average pickups, but this thing... I've been playing around all afternoon, and its amazing the sounds i can pull out of it. I'm running it straight to my amp, no effects, and it's blowing my mind. Even my sister who usually tells me to shuttup came to listen in Yay! From now on it's Ibanez all the way.

I just needed to tell someone that :P

Conrats on the new axe =) How do you like the neck on the 1527? Is this your first 7 string also?

Re: 1527 Arrived!

Yeah its my first seven string, the neck is very different from what im used to (epiphone), but i find it faster somehow, almost more comfortable (I have big hands)

What difference does a heavier low B make? I've noticed that my fingertips are sore, which hasn't happened since i started playing however many years ago...

Re: 1527 Arrived!

when i put a heavier low B in my 1527 i noticed it made a world of difference, stock guages are just a little too sloppy and leave it sounding a bit undefined. going up to maybe a 56 to start with will give it same kind of zing as the other strings.
thats what i found anyway! im not sure if it would make that much difference fingertip wise, i guess thats just the higher tension the 25.5" scale in conjunction with playing it non stop for hours like what always happens with new guitars

Re: 1527 Arrived!

Haha no, Music Connection actually. Took me 8 months to get a JB-7 :/

Heres my favourite part of the guitar:

The neck joint makes upper fret access so easy!

Can someone maybe tell me why there are those two holes over the tremolo springs?

I know I should be becoming the ultimate shredmaster now, but instead I've been taking Bob Marley songs and making little solos and fills to go in with them. I've used distortion with it maybe 4 times, the pickups sound so sweet clean It needs a name but I can't think of one yet

Don't tell her, but i think I love this guitar more than my girlfriend. Ssssh :P

Just as a matter of interest, I assume its better to buy an amp with say, 12 inch speakers instead of one with 10 inchers for the bass response now, right?
