I have been trying to have this one altered by LGM, but 2 or 3 emails to them have gone ingnored, so screw it...lol
I know this is an old post, but LGM doesn't do guitar work of any kind anymore.

What places on the neck do you actually measure to get the scale?

Re: 27" scale VS 25" scale

It's nut to bridge, or about twice the nut to twelfth fret distance, although because of intonation that is usually slightly short and nut to bridge would be slightly longer than 648mm.
Then there is fret width and shape which adds another 1-1.5mm.

A regular Ibanez is officially 648mm, (or 25.51") putting the 12th fret at 323 to 324mm.
The XL would be 686mm (or 27.01")

Apparently nobody does... I got one reply from Jaden which is the most out of ANYONE. But I had additional questions about the process, and it went silent.

Apparently it's not in the cards for me...lol

That's been my experience, too. Even when playing Jazz stuff I stick with the B because an A on my 25.5's ends up sounding awful. Never have had trouble sticking with the B.

if you get a 27" drop your string gauge. it'll give you something closer to what you were used to as far as string tension while still adding the clarity on the low b, me thinks.

Re: 27" scale VS 25" scale

I just sold my 26,5" Shecter, because I like shredding and it`s very hard to play licks like Rusty Cooley`s "Extreme pentatonics" on this scale. My fingers are not short - I`m a 178 cm tall. This is the reason my next 7-string to be with standard 25,5" scale I made my decision - for 6 and 7-strings - 25,5" and for the 8-string guitars - 28,..." scales or more (I became a Meshuggah fan with my 7-string`s baritone )
