7 String advice

I want to buy a Ibanez 7 string. I already own a USA custom metal design series, and like it a lot. I am looking for a used guitar at a price about 1000$, what should i look for? I play prog rock, metal, fusion. My amp's are: Marshall LM6100 anyversary head, JCM 800 head trhough 2 Marshall 1960 A + B 4x12 cab's...

I hate to say this but you may want to check out an rg1527. Its brand new this year, is a prestige model, and will run you about 600. That leaves you plenty of cash for a case, pickup swaps, and what not. I'm personally not a fan of the 1527 but many people here see it as being a tremendous value for the buck. I may even buy one myself for that reason. Check out ibanezrules.com. Rich has them in stock. If not that then i've seen used UVs go for about that price range. Check up on evil bay and you may be able to snag a deal.

That is good advice. You get alot for the money on that guitar .That model replaced my 7620.If you like Floyd trems, than it is a great way to go. I also have a Carvin DC 727.IT is a guitar with better details and more professional fretwork but the Ibanez trem has a more inviting feel and the Carvin 7string pups in my opinion are exrtemely bland.I pulled out my carvin 7string pups right away.

If you are willing to spend $1K you shouldn't have a problem getting a used UV. If you only had $600, I would agree completely on recommending the 1527, but since you can....get the best!

Agree. Great guitar, and you'll still have money for case/upgrading/etc.
