7 string Kramer

ok, this is a 7 string kramer that i bought a few month's ago, she was striped of paint and the prev owner has moved the vol/tone/switch higher up on the guitar, leaving a rather crudly f hole cut into the body,

I am thinking of having the beast sent to richard fay for a swirl on body and neck + inlay, but..i ahve no idea what to do about the "f hole", could allways try and fill it with a chunk of wood, which i rekon would look like piss, or could tidy it up and hope it looks ok with a swirl on top, maybe putting some black felt/cloth/material in the hole

Any advice greatly needed, also,...if anyone actully knows what it is......

Nick

Re: 7 string Kramer

Probably best to fill the cavity with some sort of filler and sand it flush, then send it off to be finished. If you fill it and sand it properly, the mod won't be noticed after it's painted.

BTW, I had one of those Strikers and don't be stupid like I was and go selling it any time soon. Great necks and they sound awesome with Dimarzio Evos.

Re: 7 string Kramer

personally i would make another little F hole on the other side of the guitar so it matches up.
filler wouldnt be noticable through a solid finish like a swirl so i wouldnt worry about that if you would rather not have F holes at all though.
sweet guitar! Looks like rusty cooleys signature Dean has almost exactly the same body shape!
pretty rocking looking guitar you have yourself there!

It would look really funny with two pint-sized F-holes. Awwww, look at the little F-holes . . . sooo cute!

Re: 7 string Kramer

That dude should have just filled the two old Vol/Tone holes with filler instead of putting the F-hole. He/she definitely did NOT ask people on this forum for advice before he went and cut the guitar up.

guitars from about 1984 ish me thinks i reken the guitars been stripped and f holes a while, quite alot of scratches and lil dings in the body, ..

But at the moment i am quite tempted jus to neaten up the f hole, get it swirled the put a piece of black...something behind it, ..dunno, then jus have to worry about what colour it should be

Nope, it's a "newer" MusicYo-era Kramer. I got mine on closeout in either 2002 or 2003, not long after they came out.

Nice. I think it looks pretty cool. I played a red pearl one just like it, it was a pretty cool guitar, I thought.
