Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
Blazes are better for strumming, Bartolinis are better for single note run type playing, which is why I switched from Blazes to Barts.

I've never ever even heard of Bartolinis. do you use them on neck or bridge?

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
ok on e bay there is a Dimarzio N1 Blaze Neck. Right now it's 9.99, with 1 day left.
guy's description:
Dimarzio N1 Blaze Neck
7 String
Pickup
Earlier version of DP700
Used but in excellent condition.
A few very minor scratches.
10 inches of lead wire left.

Should I go for it??
And should I sell my EMG HZ-B passives??

I use Bart 493s for both, but I don't believe they make them anymore. They weren't particularly easy to find when they did make them
Here's a shot:

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
With a Blaze in the neck, is there going to be a whole lot of feedback?
I've also heard that a Blaze bridge sounds really great. I wonder what it'd sound like with a Blaze in both neck and bridge..

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
If you can afford it, go for Bareknuckles - I haven't heard any that I didn't like yet (although I know Tim, the guy who owns BKP's so perhaps I'm biased!!). Have a look on the BKP forums for info on different pickups.

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
A set of BKs would run more than the price of the 7321

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
yeah...Idc how good Bareknuckles are, I'm not spending that kind of money. At least not right now. For right now I'm just playing for pleasure (but hoping for pro one day. Fat chance. But a guy can dream, right?)
Jim I see that in your profile pic that the girl is holding a Universe. (that's extremely awesome, I want a daughter like that one day lol). Is it a 7? And if so, do you have any sound clips of it?

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
Blaze neck is an astounding pickup, I'd really recommend that. Air norton7 is nice as well, but i definately perfer the blaze neck for the neck position.
Bridge wise, blaze, blaze custom, evolution7 are all great pickups with the ev07 being the most cutting out of all of them, in fact, either the blaze bridge of the evo7 would be my choice.
Avoid the tone zone 7, it is a terrible pickup, sounds nothing like the tone zone 6 (they put a cermic magnet in instead of alcino5, huge difference).

Re: 7 string pickups for RG7321
To all 7321 owners who upgraded your pups: Did you also replace the pots and 5-way as well?
I'm definitely going to replace the pickups, but am also toying with the idea of replacing the guts as well, for some reason the pots and 5- way feel especially cheap on that guitar. More than likely because it's a lower level guitar, but I'm just curious to know what other folks have done.
