7621 vs. 7421

What are the differences between these two?

I am interested in playability and hardware quality (tuners & bridge). (Must have Wizard profile...)
I can always swap out pickups.

I recently purchased an RG570FM, and I now I only want to play Wizard necks

What is the going rate for both models currently?

well they are pretty close being that they are both fixed bridges. Now if we were talking the 7620 and 7420 models, there would be a world of difference. 7620 would have Lo-pro and 7420 would have Lo-TRS II. I believe the 7621 has Dimarzio Blaze pups, whereas the 7421 would have V7/V8 series pups. Both will have the same tuners and necks are the early 74XX's would be the same as the 76XX's.

You may want to swap pup's on a 7421 as they aren't the best, whereas the 7621 would have Dimarzio's.

And if I'm not mistaken the 7421 would be made in Korea, the 7621 is MIJ. I'm not real familiar with the fixed bridges. However, when it came to the models with floating trems, I'm very familiar with them.

I could always replace the bridge with a Hipshot 7 for example if the 7421's isn't
up to par.

The 7421 is also MIJ. The necks are quite variable though. I have 2 and the profiles are utterly different. They're great guitars though, and perfect for modding:

necks with the bubinga stripe have a flatter profile
bodies are the same except for the square tab routes for the pickups
pickups are different, actually i think they are hotter than the new 7s
bridge is actually thinner than the 7621 bridge

swap out pickups and you have a great guitar.
in good shape i wouldn't pay more than $300

That's odd that the necks are different, cause I could of swore I saw a RG7420 with the neck off and it was stamped 7620 on the heel. Something to the effect that the early 7420's came with 7620 necks for just a short period of time. I'd imagine that would have been the same with the 7621 and 7421 models as well, as I was under the impression that both have the Wizard 7 neck.

Like I say, I'm not up on the 7621/7421 models, my experience has been with the floating trem versions. And the last time I actually saw or had a 7420 in my hands was back in 2000, when I worked at a music store for a bit. But that's the last time I've even seen one around.
