Hey guys. I'm having this weird problem with my RG 1527. When I hit the low string (B), it seems "deadened." That is to say, it doesn't sound as lively as the other strings, and it fades MUCH quicker than the others. I have no idea what this could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had that on a set-up just recently,changed strings and it dissapeared, i dunno if it'll help you as well, just try a new set of strings, Ya can't loose anything

The same happened to me. Just change the strings .

i know alot of people who get this all the time,

its very normal (it seems) on the low end in general, the low stings (normal a b in 7string or just the low e) seem lifeless, and well........dead lol.

only cure is to replace

As mentioned in other threads, the scale length is the killer. A low E or drop D is about as far as you can get on a 25 1/2" scale before its too short. So yes, keeping the B string fresh will always help, but what I find is that some string makers have a larger core and smaller windings to make the exact same string size. I think that's a better fit than a smaller core and fatter windings. When the windings are too fat, the string is under less tension and the windings tend to choke off the vibrations. I don't know how you tell which brand is which, but it might be time to experiment, or start opening packages at the store and compare winding sizes.
