Re: 8 String Agile
I so have no need for this it's ridiculous
I'm sure they'll sell though. I played the 2228 when it came out and while it is a playable neck, I've personally got no use for playing F#0. If I need to go that low I play another instrument. Nice to see it available though.

Re: 8 String Agile
My guitar teacher has an 8 string made my Stambaugh guitars and its insane. The neck is relatively thick and the body is about the same size but its somehow really light. I sucked when I played it though due to the fact that where I would normally put my hand to play say an open E ended up being an open D due to the insane radius of the thing
Here's him with the beast :

Exactly, I just can't pass it up, and something like this, no matter who made it, should hold its value if not go up depending on how many are made.

thats why you alternate tune it, I'd do some crazy stuff till I found what I would keep. Paul Gilbert's 3 string guitar thing but just do B where F# is so you still have it like a 7 string, then put the octave of normal open E and then tune it standard. Then you have all the E's (in odd order but it works) for paul gilberts 3 string guitar licks lol

Like I said, I have no use for it
I have a 7, and that's enough strings for me. I had a Stick for a while, so I have a fairly good idea of my limitations
I do have a few synths though, so if I need low notes for a piece of music, I can certainly get them.

Re: 8 String Agile
I'm really a bassist so I can find ways to make an 8 string work for me
But I get your point you dont need it, I was just offering some extra crazy ideas

Re: 8 String Agile
I kinda look at the 8th string as better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it

Re: 8 String Agile
I think you can create unique music with an 8 string guitar.
You can accomplish so much with inverted chords. An example:

Re: 8 String Agile
Looks like the standard will be placing orders next week or so, it will be the bolt on version with 2 pickups, I just PM'd Kurt to see if there making them in lefties, if so I may hold out and get that instead, I like the neck thru, but I also like 2 pickups, plus its gonna be 100 bucks less or so.
