8 string idea

i think by now most of us have seen the ibanez 8 sting with the fixed floyd, now my idea is this, take an old 6'er floyd, buy 2 more saddles, machine a new baseplate and block, and make my own 8 string floyd, i was thinking though since 8 stings have some much more string tension, would you want to have more spings in the back of the guitar? and would this idea even work?

I doubt it would work, there`s a reason that there arent any 8-string floyds, it`s got to do with the equillibrium.

Of course it's feasable, and something i looked into, But your talking One-Off machining costs, New baseplate, New spring block too, I'd feel happier with four springs - [I.II.I] - Thus ... If you know a metal worker, It's only a cost issue
