A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Music Store...(NGD!)
If you have seen my soon to be ngd, then you are aware that I have a RG3250 in DY on the way from rich @ ibanez rules. I was going to sell my current guitar to a friend of mine who's a music merchant. Well, I was on my way out of the music store, cash in hand, when I spy a
RG7420
on the wall for 50 dollars more than what I got for my peavey. I take it off the wall and play it. It was the first 7 string I've ever played, and I fell in love. A few negotiating moments later, I walked out guitar in hand. Well, can't blame me for wanting two ibanez, can ya? Pics to follow.

Re: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Music Store...(NGD!)
I think people unfairly dismiss the RG7420 as low quality. I think it's a solid workhorse. The construction on my RG7420 was top notch---great neck and fretwork, good tone once I put in Dimarzio pickups. The trem is not as smooth as an Edge, though, and the saddles are a bit soft, but it gets the job done. The Lo-TRS trem is made in Japan, by the way.
Oh, and nice collection!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm thinking of getting some work done on the 7 string, maybe a Floyd Trem, mod it to look like a UV7PWH, one of my fav UVs.

Nice score. Cool guitar that. The RG3250 is killer looking as well.

Nice find man with no cash out of pocket I assume??
I'm a fan of the 7420 myself. It's a solid guitar in it's original form and a great base for modding. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!!
BTW..... I like the PWH idea.

Re: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Music Store...(NGD!)
I have an MIJ RG470 with the Japanese Lo-TRS and it's a solid trem. It stays in tune just as well as any of my Edge equipped RG's. The only complaint I could make is that it's a little bit stiffer feeling than an Edge.
Changing it out for anything other than an Edge has never even crossed my mind, a Floyd or a Gotoh wouldn't be much of an upgrade IMHO...

Wow, I remember those Traveling Wilburys guitars in an 80's JC Penney catalogue.

Hah, yeah its display only. I found it used for 50 bucks, figured it'd look good on my wall. I'm a fan of the band, anyway

Now it's one of those internet gems that I otherwise had totally forgotten about. I was about 10 or 12 then and I had never heard of them, but was amazed to know that so many famous rockers were in a group together with changing members, which was a new and strange concept to me like when I found out VH was named after its guitarist rather than front man. There was a red super strat in the catalogue that I wanted so bad, but I ended getting a charvette locally.
Anyway, thanks for letting me reminisce, congrats on the new ibby!

Nice Ibbys! Had a 7420 myself a while ago with an Evo in the bridge and a Air Norton in the neck, loved it! Miss that one...wasn't that a good idea to sell it back then but well, congrats on yours!!
