& string baritone string gauge

the thing is that i`m modding my 7321 and gonna put a custom 7 string baritone 27" neck with reversed headstock in it, so the question is why people put so thin string for standart 7 string B tuning (strings like 68 - 70) for baritone
???

I heard that it won´t work what you are planning to do with that neck...
you would have to move your bridge too.
I think a .70 is ok for a baritone

Re: & string baritone string gauge

What? You've got your things ass backwards all the way. First off, what are you going to tune it to? Second, .068/.070 is NOT thin, it's rather thick. Third off, an RG7421XL neck will not work without moving the bridge as well. You're gonna have to calculate exactly how much distance one or two extra frets would add, and it would not add up to "27 in either case.
Some guy had a custom neck made for his S7, which brought the total scale length up to "28 5/8, it basically added two frets to the nut-end of the fretboard.

Lol, then that explains a lot. Well, I don't know of people who use that kind of measure on a baritone, but if you're going to tune around the A/B-area, .060-.056 should be just fine around "27 or "28.

Re: & string baritone string gauge

The string gauge depends on how you're going to tune. As Roland said 56-60 is ok for the A/B area. IMO you don't have to mod your guitar to a baritone for this kind of tuning, unless you want to go even lower (to G probably).
