Anybody ever tried one of those Schecter 7s?

Hi,
I especially wondered what you guys thought of the A-7 Diamond Series guitars. They're discontinued but I've heard good (as well as bad) things.
So did anybody here ever play one? What's your opinion on these?

Thanks,
Erik

Cheaply made, but they play pretty good. The ones with trems are definitely inferior to the edge trem system, but a good bang for the buck as you can usually get em cheap

I have C7+ and it's a great guitar. The quality is great and it's got some sustain to it.

It is...however....more of a "Les Paul" with a 7th string though. In my last band I played it alot until it was noted that it was chewing through the other guitar players sound in live situations.

Does that mean you made him (his sound) disappear in the band, or what? What was the other guy playing?

Anyone have any comments on the Revenger-7? There's one at my local guitar shop that looks like it could be ok. Here in London (and on my budget) I've got two 7-string options (without buying from outside the city) a Squire Stagemaster 7-FR (there's two of 'em in the city that I've seen) and this Schecter Revenger-7.

i own a Schecter C-7. It's been a great guitar! I've had some trouble out of the 3-way switch, but thats cheap to replace.... however...
i've said it before, and will continue to say it...
The Dillion-made RG-copy 7 strings are excellent!!! Sound-wise, the Schecter definately more vintage. It sounds better than the Dillion on clean. However, the Dillion gets a much better distorted tone, for rhythm work and lead { awesome neck humbucker tone for solos }. If i had to choose between my Dillion and my Schecter, i'd take the Dillion. The Dillion is very well-finished, very pretty, has superb fretwork, some of the best action i've ever played on ANY guitar { beat the living crap out of a Universe that i played, even }, has a better neck joint than a Schecter, and has a great neck profile { much like that of a Universe }. The Schecter is a great guitar, don't get me wrong, i'd just rather save a few bucks and grab a Dillion.
And no, i'm in NO WAY endorsed or sponsered by Dillion... i just really really like my guitars { i own 2 Dillion 7 strings } !!!
Ben
p.s. if you have any questions about the Schecter, post away, and i'll try to get to them

the other guy was playing an ash-bodied Hamer Strat with a maple neck and a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge through a Peavey Classic 4x10 amp. he had a very organic and "overdriven" Strat sound.

When I came into the project I was playing my Clapton Strat though a bunch of amps but eventually settling on a Line 6 Flextone XL using mostly the Mesa Rectifier and a Marshall settings for dirty and Roland Jazz setting for clean.

The tone was good but it sounded too much like 2 Strats competing so I started experimenting with different guitars and woods. I got an Ibanez RG550 which had alot of cut through and complimented both the sound of the other guitar and the amp I was using very well. I got an RG7420 and found it had some of the tonalities but was just too muddy, probably due to the original pickups. A short while later I got the Schecter C7+ and put a Tone Zone 7 in the bringe and an Air Norton 7 in the neck with coil splitters and each knob as a volume; no tone knobs.

It was a very big sound with that amp; it just chewed up a whole lot of frequequencies when it was being played. It sounded good but seemed tonally to be cutting into the territory once taken up by the other guitar player. After a month or so of fighting with EQs and other stuff I kind of realized that it was just too big of a sound with way too much low end and opted for a Universe and RG7620.

Schecter Avenger

Yes! I love my Avenger! I've had it for about 4 or 5 years and I'd definitely recommend one. Mahogany body and a killer Les Paul kind of tone. I had to replace the switch, which kind of lessened the vintage sound. Then, I replaced the Duncan Design pickups with EMG 707's. The guitar just sings and it's got the heaviest tone I've ever heard now.

But, even stock, it was just beautiful in a different way. I ran it through a Vox wah sometimes with the old pickups and switch... controlled distortion heaven!

You apparently have no experience with the Peavey Classic amps...do you?

There's nothing little about the 4x10 in any sense of the word....it's big, it's heavy, it's f'ing loud and it's warmer than a shot of Baileys on a February morning.

I spent a solid 4 months trying to find something to counter-part that amp and now that the band we were in is no longer together I'm considering getting one for my own use I'm that impressed with it.
