AX7521's--Got questions - Anybody actually play 'em?

Just a couple quick questions about AX7521's... I found an exceptionally good deal on one and am thinking about picking it up for a project guitar (certainly new pickups, maybe a new finish, etc.). The thought of having a mahogany-bodied fixed-bridge seven string gives me a special tingle...

Anyway, here's my questions...

1) Is it strung through the body?

2) Are these Gibson scale (24.75 inches)?

3) Are the necks bound? (I thought they are on the 7221, but didn't know about the 7521)

4) Is the finish (cherry fudge, I believe) matte or glossy?

5) Any other comments about the guitars?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I foresee picking it up this week if all goes well.

Thanks,
--B

4. The cherry fudge is glossy, the grew pewter is matte.

5. I owned one before it was stolen from me and it was awesome guitar which I miss very much. Its a great deal for how much I payed for it (400$).

er... the one I tried in Melbourne a while back wan't cherry fudge. It was more like Grey Nickel, and was matt. and that was definately the 7521, because the pickups were much better than the V7/V8 that's on the 7421. It felt good, and solid... I didn't expect this guitar to be fantastic, but it was close...

AX7521's--Got questions

I currently own one, I got a great deal($289). Don't count out the pickups before you try them, I did the same thing and when I plugged it in I was blown away. I love the neck thou some think it's too thick. It's paper thin by Schecter's standards and thick by Ibanez standards. To me itjust right. When I got my rg7620 it was because it looked cool, but the neck hurt my hands, the pickup sounded horrid imho, and trem made it so I was reluctant to try other string guages and tunnings. The 7620 is a great guitar but it was not for me. When I got my ax7521 it was because it sounds and plays great. Hope that helps.

B, did you buy the guitar? I'm thinking about getting one and was wondering what you thought of her.
thanks,

i have one that i got for $200 new about a month ago....so far i like it, but i haven't gotten to try it with my #1 amp yet (i'm a college student and my main amp is at school and i just haven't had the opportunity to try it yet). the stock pickups don't sound too terrible, but i'm planning to replace them anyway. i like the neck, but i've also played around with a couple S-7420s in stores, and i really like the wizard-7 necks on those....a bit thinner than on the AX7521, but both are quite comfortable.

i've got a recording i did with it, but i can't get to it today b/c the website it's on is being a bit stupid today and not letting me access it.

also, i'd recommend moving the strap pin from the upper horn to the middle of the neck joint, helps the neck-heaviness problem a lot.
