Can you guys help me buy my first 7?

Hey guys how's it going?

I have recently decided to buy a 7. I have looked into it in the past but never had the balls to go through with it, probably because I haven't mastered the 6 yet.

Anyway, it's been 4 years since I have owned an electric. I have only had my vintage Ibanez Accoustic, which has help me write some nice accoustic rock songs, unfortunately it is a little past it's used by date (20 yrs old) and I want to get back in to some harder stuff.

I would like to see what types of 7's people like out there, how much they cost and their availability. I don't know yet if I want a floyd rose setup as I had a lot of problems with my Jackson (didn't use the whammy much and tuning was a nightmare)

Kind of a long post, but thanks to anyone in advance, who can help me out here!

well if you dont want the hassle of a FR, then dont bother looking at the universes, but word on the street is that schecter makes some fine guitars, and they have a bunch of seven string models (left handed for most if you're a south paw) that have great quality for the money.

personally, i've never played them, but i hear good things, so why not give a looksee? i think the site's schecterguitars.com

Me personally I love Ibanez!Very affordable 7 string by Ibanez fixed bridge is RG7321,more than likey you will want to replace the pickups right off the bat,but still great deal for under 400.Happy hunting \m/

I have 4 Ibanez 7s. 2 RG 7620's, UV7PWH and an S 7420 so I would say Ibanez is the way to go. Especially the 7620. You simply cant go wrong with a 7620 and you can get one used in fairly good shape for a decent prrice. I bought my second 7620 because the deal was so good.

I live in finland now so I'm not sure exactly how I will go about looking for these particular models (I only speak very poor finnish) but you have all been a great help. I can't wait to get my filthy little hands on one of these puppies so I can start smashing some riffs.

I dont care for the neck joint and the huge headstock, other than that, nice looking guitar.

There is someone on www.sevenstring.org that has a VERY NICE Jackson Stars sevenstring. It is white and in the gallery.
