I saw Cannibal Corpse last week here in Sovenia/Europe ,and Jack Owen was using his Green Ibanez Universe. I wish to know which string gauges he use for his A# tuning ?

For A# tuning and string guages... I'm playing a 7 in standard tuning string 10-52 with a 68 B, and four springs in the back. It's firm, but not too tight to use the bar or anything by any means.

I tune my RG to B F# B E G# C#. I use these gauges: .060 .046 .036 .026 .017 .013. That's good 'n tight without being so tight that they lose sustain and hurt your fingers. I use all 5 trem springs.

Well, I've done some tuning down to F#, and I would recommend at least a .070. Probably though, a .074 or .076 would work better. You may even try a .078 or .080. If you plan to use one of the larger gauges, though, be prepared for some difficulties in stringing the guitar up. You might have to get the hole in the tuner reamed out a bit to fit anything bigger than a .068 or so in there. Also, if you have an Edge trem, you may have problems getting the string in the saddle. I don't know what you do about that.

Just wanted to point out, the track Dreaming Neon Black on the album of the same name is the first (that I know of) use of 7-strings for Nevermore.

And yes, everyone here is right in saying Loomis is tuned down a half-step -- not just on the 7 but on the 6 for their older stuff as well.

He also uses funky huge triangle picks -- I know cuz I had to buy him a bag of 'em for the In Flames tour...
