Chapman Stick -- Can Anyone Share Some Info About It? - Wher

Because of the way I play guitar, walking bass and stuff, and my need for more strings, some friends have suggested I get into a stick. And since quite a few people have mentioned this, not only one or two, I figure I should check it out.

Up to now, all I know that Tony Levin played one and that you tap on the board to get sounds out instead of strumming. They have 10 strings.

Having looked on Ebay, I saw that they also come in 12 string versions.

Anybody have some info or experience?

Eric

Check out Stick Enterprises and Warr Guitars.

From what i've read, touch guitar really is its own thing. Most people that play touch-style do so full-time (like Trey Gunn or Fergus Marsh) or they're bass players who use it for occasional songs (like Tony Levin). I've often been intrigued by it, because i really like that percussive sound.

Go with a Warr guitar. Nicer instruments and the people are better to deal with. I didn't have much luck with Emmett Chapman.

I checked out some of the graphite Chapman sticks... Wow, I have to try one of these babies out. But the price, even on EBay, is a heck of a deterrent. I don't want to shell out 2 grand for a test drive.
