Converting to these "XL" guitars... - Is the extra 1" 1/2 re

The 27" scale thing is nothing new. Though this is a brand new thing to the 7 string world, baritones have been around forever. I really want to try out the RG7421XL...Does anyone know when these guitars should reach stores??

Also has anyone found that the longer scale has any downsides? I'm trying to decide weather or not I might plan on investing in one but Im worried that if I do then I'll like it so much over my other guitars. Or vice versa.

One thing I can think of, is that maybe they dont fit into standard hardshell cases. *Might need to go with Universe cases. *Not sure though, might just be a tight fit in a regular case.

I wish they would have added one more fret instead of stretching out the normal 24 frets.

Converting to these "XL" guitars...

Since I think at the moment I'm the only owner of a 7 string baritone(RG 7680LTD-1) I'll write few lines about it.
First of all the neck is totally different in the aspect and construction from the XL series
mine is a five(5) pieces maple bubinga with the scarf joint, the headstock is the same color as the body, with that strange effect due to the paint job, the dots are centered and every single binding and dots glows in the dark.
the rest I think is pretty much the same hardware wise
Since I picked this baby up in Italy2 months ago the other members of my guitar family are always in the cases, the main advantage from the standard scale is that you can have 09s and still have the seventh string very present and not sloppy even if you detune, the downpoint is that in the lower positions is a tad more difficoult to do complicated chords but at the opposite is a dream to play in the high registers, it's only a matter of streching a little bit more the fingers in compex chords
If everything goes well I'll be at JEMFEST with the new baby in few months

Sincerely

Stefano Giusti
