different headstocks on the 2027x - There is a diff..

If you look at one of Kevan's guitars

and then you look at the one on Ishibashi

you'll notice that the headstocks are different. Whats the deal here?

Kevan's is the RG7CST, and the other is the RG2027... they're 2 different guitars... the CST is like the J-Custom of the 2027 with a flamed top and that special j-custom touch

am i right or am i?

2027's are Prestige models not J Customs.

I thought it was somthing like that. I thought there was only 1 7 string with the peizo in it.. i guess was wrong.

i posted that after doing an assignment for a few hours straight, so i wasn't in the "guitar mode" yet, j-custom, ibanez, fender, floyd rose, Edim b7 #13/G, it was all the same to me :silly:

no wait... i never said the 2027 was a j-custom, i know its a prestige, i said that the CST was sorta like a j-custom version of the 2027... oh well... whatever, doesn't matter to me

I understood what you were saying, I was responding to Mojo's question. Actually it was a silly answer for me, besides the label J Custom or Prestige written on the head there is no difference. They've made Prestige models with veneer overlay heads, back of head overlays, just like they have on J Customs, and the majority of J Customs just have the black painted headstock that the majority of the Prestige do. The one thing they all have in common is the mother of pearl logo. (OK some JC's don't have the pearl, they have what fits them ie. RG Gear)

Well Steve, there's always the J-Custom RG-USA2.
It's similar to mine, but the flag is angled in the opposite direction.
Price? *If I remember correctly, it was $2999.99...no case.

To keep it on topic, that J-Custom has a matching headstock too. *:-)

RG1680X has a black headstock, and so does the RG8520. At least that's what it looks like on the Ibanez Japan site.

As well as the 1508 I just had and the 8527 also having black heads, maybe Kev should do a little more research.

They're not identical to the Prestige headstocks though, the pearloid 'Ibanez' is bigger on the J-Customs than on the Prestige headstocks. *(At least they were both larger than the one on my 2020.)

...and maybe Kev doesn't really have time right now to research the 60+ models of J-Customs and find out which have matching headstocks.

Want to know which models have black headstocks? *Start a list.
(to me, it looks like they started with the black headstock in 2000 or 2001)
