different neck sizes on the RG models

hi,

wonder if anyone can help me out....my first 7 string was a rg7421 it had the dark wood stripe up the center of the neck just 1 not 2...and the neck is pretty thin and easy to access....i then got a rg7621 this neck didnt have any strip and was just pure maple but this neck is also alittle fater and chunky u can totally feel the difference...

my point is does the neck being any bigger and not having the stripe make any difference to the sound of the guitar? i notice that universes seem to be just 1 piece maple like my rg7621 neck...

only i think i prefer the rg7421 neck for playability....so i was just wondering if anyone knew if it made any difference about the neck?

thats interesting, cause the neck on my RG7421, when you take it off the guitar, in the neck joint is stamped RG7621, i thought they used the same neck? odd... my 7421 has that bubinga strip down it too, i guess its to make the neck stronger...

i've only seen two rg7421's with a 7621 neck stamp.... maybe they didn't have enough 7421 necks made or any made at the time of production...

i've also got an rg 7420 and a rg 1527. I just love the neck on my 7420 Wizard isn't it?) but the neck on my rg 1527 is a lot fatter (ultra neck on the european market). Bot have the bubinga skunk stripe. Soundwise my rg 1527 has got more mids and a bit more crisp bass, the 7420 is a little warmer. Don't know if its got anything to do with the neck altough both have the same pu's in there.

I also have an RG7421. It has the stripe down the back of the neck. I've never taken the neck off to see what's stamped on there.

Do the 7621's have the stripe, or are they solid maple? Mine has the stripe, I'm just curious if it's a 7421 or 7621 neck.
