Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
No. The N1 is a "New 7" pickup, it isn't a Blaze. Still made by DiMarzio, but it's the stock pickup from an RG7620. "N" marked Blaze pickups (as you'd get in a Universe) always say "N2".
And links to live auctions are a no-no here

Thanks for saving me.
Well that's no fun, not being able to have links to live auctions.

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
Well, it turns out I was incorrect about this according to a recent conversation I had with DiMarzio. I had based my pervious post on info from DiMarzio as well, but having just gotten off the phone with them they are telling me today that the N1 is the neck Blaze (original) and the N2 is the New 7. I don't know now if they actually know this stuff or guess at times, but today DiMarzio is telling me the Blaze came first before the New 7, they only made 2 pickups for Ibanez in this series, and as the Blaze came first they were the N1/B1 combo, and the New 7 was the N2/B2 combo. Basically the same pickups, with the New 7's just a bit hotter (that's also from DiMarzio, not my opinion)
My apologies to anyone who's transactions were affected by my previous post, but once I got off the phone today I felt a duty to make sure I set the record straight, since I was the one who confused it in the first place.
Again, my sincerest apologies for any and all confusion caused by my previous post.

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
OK, I just read this, so I have a pair of New 7's here from my RG7620 and they have B2 (bridge) and N2 (neck) on them.

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
Yep. All 7620's came new with the New 7's, that bit at least wasn't part of my confusion
The New 7's are the N2/B2s. They're fine pickups, especially the neck pickup, but they aren't the same pickups that come stock in a Universe. They are made by DiMarzio in the US, and they are a bit hotter than the Blazes.

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
Yes, they are called "Blaze II" but the markings on the old metal base ones are B1 and N1. I think the "Paf Pro" 's that came on the old Jems also had similar markings...
Don't confuse the marketing name, with the writting on the pickup. I.E. "The Tone Zone" is marked DP155 on the pickup (IIRC).

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
There was confusion evidently between DiMarzio and Ibanez on the Blaze pickup naming convention early on. There is no such thing as a Blaze II pickup. There are Blazes, and there are New 7's. There are no Blaze II's, no matter how many catalogues specifically name them. They don't exist. All Universes have shipped with Blazes as stock equipment, nothing else.

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
Didn't someone say that there was no such pup as a Blaze II?
What's this then?

Those are from the Ibanez catalogs, which I mentioned above were incorrect.

Re: Dimarzio N1 Blaze 7 string Neck pickup
Blaze neck on my UV, my fave neck pickup. It's really nice. I usually dislike neck pickups.
