DimarzioCustoms on rg1077XL, opinions?

Just like to know what you guys think of them!

I myself think that they are awesome! I can get every tone I want from these babies!

But, the only other pickup I have tried is the ToneZone :P
So I can't speak for the Pro7, Evo7, EMG707...

They're the same as the stock ones in an RG-7620 if that means anything to ya. They're decent pickups, but most people like to switch them out.

Do you mean the stock pups on the 1077? I'm not a big fan.

I loved them at first. They sound huge on clean tones. After awhile, though, I felt like they had a weird peak in the treble, and that the "scooped" sound didn't allow the kind of grind I like for distortion (especially from the bridge). I've put in a order for an Evo 7. We'll see how it works out.

The Evo7 sounded even more scooped to me. I had one for about a week in a 7620. Took it out and wnt with the PAF7. A big misconception I find when i do pickups for people in their 7 strings, is that they are looking for more bass to bring out the B. I find for me that bringing up the mids some actually helps. Everyone is different obviously, but for me the PAF is just more able to produce the B without getting harsh. Scooping out the mids only buries the low string and sucks the guts out of it. For me anyway...lol

I agree about the "scoop" in pups. Scoop AFTER distortion, not before, for better attack, articulation, and grind. My Evo is already on the way, so all I can say is that I hope it works better for me than it did for you!

lol... yeah... like I said, everyone hears things differently. So, I wish you luck. Hopefully the Evo will be the pickup you need...
