Does anyone own a DeArmond S67?

The DeArmond S67 is the 7 string version of the SG style guitar that they brought out a few years ago. They've been discontinued and it seems like a good cheap source for a set neck 7 string (around $225). The information on the guitar is very inconsistent. Some sources claim a 24 3/4 inch scale (like the 6 string version), others claim it was lengthened to 25 1/2. Can anyone tell me the truth about the scale length? Any other comments?

The scale length doesnt matter. It's a horrible horrible guitar. It buzzes like anything when you touch any metal part, but is dead silent when you dont. (i know, very strange..) The action isn't to pleasant, and ive played much prettier necks. The pickups claim to be humbuckers, but they sound just like singlecoils, its very unbalanced sitting down, the finish is crap and the tone is sh!t to be descriptive...

Oh well. I can think of better things to do with $200 than flushing it down the john, so I guess this is one idea that can just die where it started. Thanks.

For a good set neck 7, I reccomend the Dean EVO Special 7. Its a pretty good guitar, and isn't too expensive. I found a realy good deal on one last year.

Ditto the dean. I hear nothing but good praise about them.

Well done on not getting the s67. Its pants, and definately no good for anything jazz shaped.

I've kicked myself many times for not buying one of the Deans when Musicians Friend blew them out for $250. I've also owned a Schecter C7+ (also a set neck) which is a fine guitar for the money. I guess I just like to try them all. I've bought and sold over a dozen 7 strings in the last 2 years. Some I've played for a month or two, some longer. SOme have come and gone in one day!

One of the guitarists of a band called Pain uses them (the other uses Jackson I believe) in their video for "Shut Your Mouth". Kinda a cool song, and a great video.
