dropped tunning and tremolos

i play in standard on a 7 string guitar with a liscenced tremolo, but say i wanted to detune the low B to A, drop a tunning, is there some kinda device i could use that would let me drop tune quickly and accurately? ALSO, i would need the tremolo to still be free to pull up and dive bomb, even in its detuned state. any suggestions?

Yeah. Give up.

You can't have ALL of that. You can block the trem from pulling up, then use an EVH D-Tuna to drop the whole step (some routing may be required). You can use Kevan's Tremol-no when it EVER comes out instead of the solid block, and add the D-Tuna. But you CAN'T change the tuning while also being free to pull up. Not with a floydian design. Maybe with a Steinberger transtrem or something...

so from reading that thing on the tremol-no website, it makes it seem like i could turn the tremolo "off" then detune my low B to dropped, and play in that tunning, and then raise it back to B and turn "on" the tremolo?

That's my understanding of it.

With the Deep-C, you could probably increase the spring tension on your trem, have a dive-only trem then, but be able to just leave it alone as you switched back and forth between B and dropped A.

Also, don't forget, as he said, "drop tune quickly and accurately". Downtuning all 7 strings accuratly would probably take longer than just dropping one.

Yep, alternate tunings are just one of many excuses to buy a 2nd (or 3rd, 4th, or more) guitar

Search on the Gear forum for a thread called the Tremol-No. The Deep-C is a variant of that device.

Dont need 1 finger chords, but i do like your other idea. thats why i got 3 guitars ;p
