Evo7 sounds great. Way better EQ'd than the Blaze, IMO. Dimarzio says that they didn't just put a 7th coil in the Evolution to make the Evo7, but the sounds are similar.

I'll agree with that. I actually feel the Evo7 sounds better than the regular evolution. It seemed to have a little more output.

I've got an Evo and a PAF pro in my Jem and an Evo7 & Paf7 in my UV.

The Jem's output is louder. don't know why, but it is - i have to turn the amp up when i switch guitars.

I like mine, and there is only the slightest difference between the evo's and evo7's. Seems to be a little more articulated lows but could all just be in my ears.

I was wondering the same thing... cuz I briefly played my UVMC before dismantling it for a cleaning and the Blaze pups didn't sound all that great to me. I'm gun get me some Evos : D

Evo7 in my 2027, and it sounds different to the Jem.

Not the same, it's less bright, but this may be more due to the different woods.

In comparison to the Blaze, I'd say the blaze id more metal, more raw. Still like the blaze as well though. The Evo7 is clearer, more clean. Nice pickup.

I was just starting a post about how it sounds in mahogany. How IS the high end? I don't want to be able to cut through sheets of metal from 20 paces or anything, but i want something substantially brighter than the TZ7 in my 2027... As it is, i think the clean bridge sound is unusable from the TZ, and while the distorted one isn't bad, i'm not hooked.

that's odd... on dimarzio's website they say that the evo-7 has the highest output of any of thier pickups at 420 mv, the regular evos are 294 in the neck and 404 mv in the bridge.

Well, it could be a percieved volume difference due to the differences in tone associated with the body wood, or they could be at different heights in relation to the centerline of the strings... Or maybe your evo-6 is a little overwould and the 7 is a little underwound. who knows? (I'm just bored, so it hought i'd toss out a few possibilities)

The X2n, is the highest output pickup that dimarzio makes, at something like 502 mv. Vai used to use this by the way. Does anyone know what pickups vai used in the green meanie, when he recorded the parts for crossroads?
