Aye, well, I guess it's called a baritone cos it covers all the notes on a baritone guitar (and similarly starts with low B) and has the same scale length, just with an extra high E. I bet with that scale you could go a whole 4th if you wanted, going down to F#

I reckon I'd find the 27" scale horrible, given I didn't like a 26.5" Schecter baritone 6 string I tried, and the big difference .5 of an inch can make. I'd probably try getting lighter strings to compensate.

Dude. Fernandes guitars are so ugly, even Elián González wouldn't float over here on one. (Yeah, I went there)

Baritone is BEADGBE? I have one of my 7-strings tuned (BEADF#BE) which I always referred to as baritone for years.

I dunno if it really matters if it's F# or G (though it comes G as standard). Depends on what you prefer...

Re: Fernandes 7 string baritone

I think as long as its a 27" scale length (or higher), it doesnt matter the tuning, its a baritone..

+1. I would use a lower tuning than the BEADF#BE though.

Re: Fernandes 7 string baritone

I like the G dropped to an F#, it's like playing in B standard with an extra high, makes soloing interesting too, it took me a few minutes to get adjusted to it but what I love the most is playing alot of chords in that tuning. I have been using this tuning for about 6 or 7 years now.

Re: Fernandes 7 string baritone

I must admit that I don't feel comfortable with the F# insted of the G, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't say anything. I will try it on my acoustic (it's easy to tune ).
One other thing. I've been using a CGCGCE tuning and I wonder how could this be transfered on a 7 string. Would it be GCGCGCE or ECGCGCE. Has anybody tried it?

Re: Fernandes 7 string baritone

I know of one kid on www.sevenstring.org that attempted it, tuning the B up to C and so forth but drop C. I think it was sorta similar to that tuning. I guess it would be fun to try it.

The reason I like the F# is because of the B major chord, it sound nice and deep, with the G, you can't get that F# note needed in the B maj. chord.

Also that F# is nice to have open when playing barred chords too. That is why I only have one guitar tuned that way, every once in a while, i'll play it just to write something new and fresh rather than always writing in standard, running out of ideas, etc.
