Finally got my ESP SC-607!

I had to wait a couple of weeks for it because I had to do payments, but I finally got my ESP SC-607 neck-thru 7-string! Oh my god, how I love this beast! Out of over 30 7-strings I've owned, this one is in my top 3! It just plays itself. The construction is flawless & the aestectics are just beautiful. Observe...

Construction: Neck-thru-body
Scale: 25.5”
Body: Maple
Neck/Fretboard: Maple/rosewood
Inlays: SRC at 12th fret, model name at 24th
Pickups: EMG 81-7 active set
Electronics: 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way slotted toggle
Hardware: Chrome
Bridge: TonePros locking bridge w/string-thru-body
Binding: White (neck, headstock)
Frets: 24 XJ

Woohoo...time for a beer!

Nice axe! What's your take on the guitar's tonal versatility given the unusual pickup positioning? Do you miss the traditional neck pup tones?

Randy
Well, the bridge pickup sounds like it should. The middle pup reminds me of a neck pup with the low end rolled off a tad. It's an overall nice. If I want a traditional neck pup sound, I just have to switch on the middle pup & roll back the tone knob a bit. If you want a really nice tone for clean guitar, I found that activating both pups sounds excellent. For guitars with a 3-way selector switch, I've never been a fan of the middle position. However, this guitar sounds great in that position.

stephan carpenter plays those 2 pickups together alot, it has a very distictive sound. something about the low strings gives it a real nice sound too.

i do it with my ibanez.

ok, so being an ibanez user (i assume), what is it that you like about it so much? it's a gorgeous guitar and i love EMG's. i stared at it and the black sc607B for 2 months before i bought my present guitar.

Well, I own 2 ESPs & both have BEEFY NUTS! <cues rimshot>

Seriously though, my SC is very close, if not identical, to the RG7/UV guitars.

I've never seen one of those and it looks really amazing!

I'd miss the neck pick-up though...

Yes, the finish is amazing. When I brought it home, even my drummer said "Oh my god, that's the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen! I'm not even a guitarist, but that one <the guitar> gives me a hard on!"

I died laughing, but it's true.

is it a carved body or is it flat?

it's not a 7 string, but this is the "kinda, sorta, not really, 6 string version" equiv that now has me drooling -
