Ha ha, word travels fast... I was the one who wrote that.
Anyway, I tried out tuning to GCGCFAD yesterday - apart from swelling and some intonation issues, it actually sounded pretty rad. The low G was an .064. I'll buy the appropriate strings for going GCGCGCG with the next batch! I think I'll go .066 or .068 for the low G - the thinner, the better, soundwise, but techniquewise, it gets a bit hard to shred once the tension gets looser than ~14lbs on the bottom, for me.
I really wonder what this kind of tuning does towards opening up chording possibilities. There's one thing drawing charts, another thing actually trying it out!
