I saw the
Gibson
one last week, not my thing, but it's worth checking out.
Got something against agile have we?

Agiles aren't cheap because the company is run by nice guys, it's because people get screwed and corners are cut.
But your right, that isn;t the point of the thread
Now what would America be like if we had that sort of righteous mind set back then?
but come to think of it, Korea is a rich country and has an education system FAR better than we do. Its a hub for research of technology and medicine. Now I may be wrong, but "inhumane treatment of child slaves in earth-killers" might be exaggerating for a country with a human development index right on par with the US.
I think you just made a long-shot assumption that about a budget guitar company, and perhaps confused it with Chinese factories. but for all I know, that scenario could be the case (or they were some highschool dropouts who can't get jobs elsewhere)...however, please don't tell me you are boycotting Korean products because of it.

Re: Gibson Explorer 7!
maybe gibson are trying to keep up with ibanez and all the other "shred" guitar companies; EMGs, 7-strings, floyds...heh.
too bad about the scale of the guitar.

Korean, Chinese, Indonisian, any country that allows its workers to be forced into long hours, low pay and unsafe work conditions. I know South Korea is nowhere near as bad as North Korea, but devaluing labor is bad for everyone in the long term. Again, it's not the point of this thread, but imported products are cheap for a reason, mainly work conditions and disgustingly low wages.

Re: Gibson Explorer 7!
24.75 is an absurdly short scale for a 7-string. I even struggle to get low B clarity on a 25.5 7-string without finding insane custom gauges.

Yeah, but I was trying to get at there's plenty of opportunities in an array of industries from one of the most advanced countries in the world. I find it hard to believe that the people who work in those guitar factories don't have other choices if conditions were actually that poor.
-sorry to jack the thread

I'm probably the only 7-string player in the world who doesn't mind! I tend to look at it as a 6-string with a few extra notes if I need them. If I spent a lot of time on the low B I'm sure I'd want 27" but for my current needs I'm happy with my Universe and RG7XXXs. Even though the
Explorer
's scale length is shorter than those, it doesn't put me off wanting one.
