Has anyone played this Samick

I've heard that some of the guitars that Samick make under their own name can be pretty good. This one can be had for around $170 and at that price I though it might make a decent beater. Anyone played one?

Ummm... No. Sam-ick
Not a big fan of these. Of course, maybe the one I played was just a lemon and very poorly set up.

samick 7

I bought the one with the floyd trem from a mail order company. I liked it, especially for the low price. I had to sell it to pay my electric bill, but my friend still has it. The main problem has been the action. Lowering it at the bridge causes neck buzz. I still believe we'll be able to tweak it. It will just take some time. The pickups are slightly microphonic at high volumes, but have a decent tone. It's not a bad deal if you can't afford anything better or just want a cool guitar to play around on.

...swap out the pickups for something better...swap out the bridge for a Lo-Pro-7...you've got a decent guitar. Maybe do something with the neck too if you want.

Wow! someone actually put thought into that output jack! F*nder may want to think about that..
What are the pickups? The writing looks to small to have the word 'Duncan(s)' in.

The usual crappy Korean "Duncan Designs" (Inevitably the weakest link on a lot of otherwise decent Korean made guitars)

I'd been eying that... I REALLY like the idea of an alder-bodied 7- my strat sounded absolutely massive when i tuned it down to B. something about the wood gives low notes an incredible clarity...
