Help & Advice Please. Re: 7621/7421
Hows it guys,
I have just recently picked up another 7621 from ****.
It was in player condition but still, I love the 7621 (don't mind the 7421 either)
It has arrived today and...it has a 7421 body as the pickup routs are rounded square as opposed to the triangles.
The colour is exactly the same as the 7620 of the same year which didn't surprise me as this happened a fair bit.
The the
fixed bridge
is a 7621 bridge not the 7421
The neck is clearly a 7621 neck (I know that they used surplus 7621 necks on 7421) but it is dated correctly on the serial.
The pickups don't appear to be the dimarzio's hence the square routs.
I dont really know if I should hit the guy up about it as he was great to deal with and I can understand that it may have been a mistake as you really have to dig to know these things. I paid $280 US.
Any thoughts? Feedback would be appeciated.
Many thanks
Ki.

that's cheap for a really good 7. i would consult the guy to see if he could drop a bit back in your pocket, but in all actuality, i wouldn't sweat it. somewhat misrepresented, but a hell of a deal. sucks that it doesn't have te new7's, but more than likely, you'd do a swap. i personally like the dimarzio routes, but wouldn't kick your guitar out of bed just for that. neither should you. looks like you got a keeper.

True. thanks Rty. yeah, I will re re routing anyhow.
I also pickup another (100% sure on this one) 7421 in much played condition for $158.
That baby is going to get sanded back to wood then stained honey.
I guess I won't sweat the guy. He was good to deal with after all and dont believe he was being dishonest at all.

Re: Help & Advice Please. Re: 7621/7421
I recently paid $300 for one of these from a local pawn shop. That might sound like a lot but I was OK with it for a couple of reasons:
1) I rarely see these where I live, so I got to play this one before I bought it.
2) Even if I bought one of the bay for $250, I would still have to pay shipping costs, and potential customs and brokerage fees if shipped via UPS. That would wind up costing me $300 or more for a guitar I couldn't play before I purchased.
If the guitar is solid and not intentionally misrepresented, I personally wouldn't worry about a few bucks. I would be more hassle for me to return it or make other arrangements.
I also worry about not creating too much hassle for sellers out of the U.S. (where a majority of the guitars on the bay that I am interested in come from). As it stands, a lot of sellers don't want to ship guitars out of the U.S., and I don't want to cause that number to rise due to being 'high maintenance'.

I am with you there mate
, you're only in Canada, I, on the otherhand am at the bottom of the world.
I didn't bust his nuts over it, I gave him a detailed but freindly email and pos feedback. I am satisfied that, from here and other forums, that I got a fair deal even if it was a player 7421.
Thanks

Yeah, I see your point. Often times, I will ask the seller if they will ship to Canada, even if their listing says only to the U.S. About 1/2 the time they will ship to Canada, so I shouldn't complain.
Anyway, enjoy the 7 stringer. I like mine a lot.

exactly, most of my purchases have been U.S. only. If you show that you have your **** together(USPS pricing etc), no probs usually.
