HELP: need to decide between RG1527 & ESP-LTD M-207

Hey! I'm new here! I really need advice or opinion. i'm planning to buy a 7-string and i'm really on a budget. I can't decide if i'm gonna get a RG1527 ($799) or an ESP-ltd M207($899, only $399 at ******). I'm in the Philippines so i can not really test these guitars before buying. these guitars are not available here so i'm planning to order the product on-line or let my friend (a non-guitar person) buy it for me. i need help to decide which of these 2 guitars should i buy! thank you very much. Rock On!!!

questions:
what are the dis-/advantages of each?
which has the better sound?
which has the better feel?
which stays in tune when trem bar is used regularly?

thanks

Never played a M-207, but I own a RG1527, and can say its a great guitar. Stays in tune extremly well, great neck...

I donīt know specialy that model of ESP, but i played the "les paul" model of kirk hammet (i think kh-1 or kh-2)
the neck is similar to a strat neck, and i donīt like that for soloing
Wizard necks are thin and flat, i love them

about the stay in tune... i own a Jem7v and i abuse of the trem and never gets out of tune... i donīt really know what happens with ESP

Sound, the ESP i played was "very Metallica" (also think about Rammstein sound) but maybe was because of that model
I like that sound, but Ibanez is more versatil...

one more thing is that Ibanez has the best low 7th sound, i mean, the 7th string with best definition.

Try to download some clips of guitarists that use the guitars you have in mind (like when you go to DiMarzioīs page and you download demos of the diferent p-ups)

good luck

IMO, the 1527 will stomp all over the LTD. The build quality of Japanese Ibanez guitars is way above LTD's, the EP7 is a much better bridge than the TRS-style bridge on the LTD, and the Wizard-7 neck rocks!

When I get around to buying another 7, it will most likely be a 1527.

if you dont need a floyd rose too much, i REALLY, i mean REALLY advise you to get a conklin groovetools guitar, aka GTG-7t. The low B is really damn tight sounding, and they look cool!

a piece of advice... all my friends who has any Ibanez bridge (lo pro edge or pro edge) had the same problem that i had... the hole for the trem bar seems to get bigger and the trem bar starts to "dance" inside
is not veryeasy to see, but you can feel it
youīll hear that when you make vibrato with bar the sound looses vibration of the string (stop sounding)

(sorry for my poor english...)

ps: any solution for me?

Yeah... Tighten the trem arm socket every once in a while, and replace the trem arm bushings every few months. For help, check the tech sections both here and at www.ibanezrules.com.

When I was shopping around for 7's, I played a used M-107, and there shouldn't be any differences in the neck dimensions, just other options (pickups, trem) with the M-207's, right?

Anyway, the M-107 was cool looking (flat black) and sounded decent, but it felt absolutely huge in my hands; literally like trying to play a 2x4 piece of lumber (and I'd say I have medium to large hands -- no problems with most stretches). Granted, I've grown used to Ibanez necks (my ESP M-202 6-string feels pretty big compared to my RG470, but the ESP is flat/thin so it's not bad and I like the EMG pickups), but I could tell after about 30 seconds of playing the M-107 that I was either going to have to find a smaller/better neck or forget about buying a 7-string due to it feeling so uncomfortable.

That's about the time the RG 1527's were first being talked about, and everything after that I heard was pretty positive so I took a chance and ordered one. I can honestly say I've never been happier with a guitar -- it sounds and feels great. The neck on my 1527 feels only slightly wider than the neck on my ESP M-202 6-string! The transition from 6 to 7 strings was not a problem for me with my 1527.

My 1527 has great fretwork, no buzz at the low end, and if you use the trem at all then you gotta go Ibanez -- the most disappointing thing about my ESP is the cheap Floyd imitation (feels stiff, has very limited range of motion, won't flutter no matter how you adjust it or how many springs are attached, I can't stand the arm, etc., etc., etc.!)

Anyway, I know this is just one guy's opinion, but having owned both Ibanez and ESP 6-strings, and having played an ESP 7-string and bought an Ibanez RG1527, I figured I might be able to give you a helpful perspective. Good luck either way, hope you find an axe that sounds and feels great for your needs.

EDIT: One more thing -- regardless of what you buy, be -SURE- to set enough money aside to take it somewhere and have a good setup done (unless you can do this yourself), because even an RG1527 prestige neck that's done right from the factory will probably need some TLC after being boxed up and shipped.
