HELP, pickups won't fit in RG1527

Here is my problem. I ordered a set of Duncans for my RG1527, Custom and Jazz. They will not fit. The stock pickups are about 1/4 inch shorter that the Duncans. The ends of the screws are too long therefore causing the pickup to be too high (will hit strings). The suggestion from Seymour Duncan was to clip the ends of the screws on the underside of the pickup. The only effect that is supposed to have is it will make the pickups hotter. I will also have to route the holes in the guitar a little bit to accomidate for height. I know that a couple of you guys have had one or both of these pickups installed in this guitar. Did you have the same problem? If so, what did you do to get the pickups in?

I know it's probably painful to do this to a new guitar, but just get out the Dremel and route the pickup cavities. That tool has solved so many fitting problems from pickups, to pickguards to too long screws, great investment.

I've had the same problem, with the same response. I just haven't come around to do it yet. I guess its because I can still use the guitar the way it is. Also, I'm switching the pickup to a Dean EVO to see if it fits better.

I'd try clipping the ends of the screws, maybe cut them with a dremel tool. It would be best to trim the minimal ammount of the screws if you decide to try it.

Post if it works, hope this helps
