I dropped my 1077 a minute ago... :(
...from waist high, it was hung around my neck, the strap unhooked from the left hook and the axe slammed into the wooden floor back first and then turned on the string side from the impact !!!
the guitar has of course detuned a significant amount.
visually everything seems fine (apart from a tiny scratch around the floating bridge) but how can I check whether something is broken inside the neck or somewhere else???

there's nothing to break inside the neck, a fall won't hurt anything inside usually. Basically if it looks ok, and still plays and works fine it is fine. Acoustics are another story, braces can pop, end blocks etc, but electrics are pretty resiliant. If there isn't any visible damage I'd say you're perfectly fine.

If it went flat, I would look at the trem posts, and make sure the wood didn't split where they are seated. I had a Universe do that, and with the extra tension, I am paranoid about it with my 1077's...lol

I had the strap pin rip out of my RG7 at a gig the very first time I played it out. Luckily I caught it in time before it went splat, cos it fell neck first.

I think we should start a program to take battered and abused guitars and give them to better homes (i.e. me)
Just kidding...mostly

oh the joy of well seated
dimarzio cliplock straps
:> Never leave home without em :> I usually use the original screws with my
cliplock straps
they can usually be forced through the brass bushing with a little work.

I use the dimarzio screws but i take some string and jam it into the old screw hole then screw em in. its an old old woodworking trick for stripped screw holes, works like a charm.

I just repaired mine with some glue and a matchstick *LOL* It was a
cliplock strap
but that didn't help since it was the screw that ripped out, not the strap itself.

I use a variety of
strap locks
...i've broken them all, including the Dimarzio things. Those work well, I will admit, but i like my recessed Dunlops. Except on V's where the back of the neck one might release when it pushed against ya'.
That's just me...
