Ibanez 7621....should I or not

I just picked up a good condition 7621 off **** that seems to have hardly been used. I already know that I want to put EMGs in it to get the sound I'm looking for. At first I thought about just putting a 707 in the bridge after routing and and disconecting the 5 way switch and neck pickup. I got the guitar so cheap that I don't want to put too much money in it.

After finding this site I am now considering having EKG build me a mahogany RG body and setting it up with string thru body and a TOM 7 string bridge and route for only a bridge 707 pickup and 1 volume control. Then I would just reuse the 7621 neck on that body.

You could go the EKG route, but since you said you didn't want to put too much money in this guitar, I'd stick with the way it is right now and just disconnect the neck and toggle switch and just wire it for a single EMG.

I'm used to mahogany guitars, but I guess I'll give the basswood a shot and give EKG a call if that doesn't work for me.

7621 4sho, if the price is right and u dont like trems then it cant be wrong.

i dont like active pickups and i think that most 7-string pickups sound better on basswood than mahogany. id just swap the pickups and tear the tone knob off...
