I just saw Meshuggah for the first time saturday at the Hellraisers Ball and I have to say that I love those 8 String guitars. I heard them before but they are kick ass live.

ok the 43 should be divided by 7, because of the spaces on the right and left of the nut should be an equal distance to half-way between each string...if that makes since, and the 48/8, so...
43/7 = 6.1428
48/8 = 6
so
it should be about a 52.7148,
52.7148/9 = 5.8572
(6 - 0.142
or a 54,
54/9 = 6,
if u wanna assume that manufacturers use an average of 6*(strings+1) to get the nut width...
yea...all that and no college! yeah for 10th grade math! lol
but again, they may wanna compact them more, so its not a freakin monster. however, its not really that hard to get to the 1st(or 8th) string on an 8 string w/a huge neck, just try it, u can fit ur hand way past a regular 6 string neck, just imagine another 2 strings there.

This thread reminds me, what happened to the pictures of the 8-string Ibanez sent to Steve Vai recently? Vai.com's webmaster said that he'd post them soon awhile back.... anyone ever see them? I can't wait for summer NAMM!
