Now it makes more sence, to me.

The 30" scale length is giving this huge neck....a rather long and "slim" appearance. I really like the look of it.

Not sure though what this longer neck will have of advantage over a 27" neck.
1 thing really-amazing tone!! high tension sounds brilliant, i think thats why fatter strings sound better, but i definetely think that whenever i play longer scale guitars back to back with shorter ones ive always been impressed with the tone and the harmonics, man they SING!!

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

Has anyone listened to Catch 33? Because there's a part on track 7 i think where the guitars do a sudden whammy dive bomb. Any ideas?

I have it and I LOVE it, I'm a HUGE Meshuggah fan... I think its a bass for that part, just used a bass and tuned down to an extreme point! lol, I'm pretty sure its Fredrik who is doing that part, either that or he/they (Fredrik and Marten) used a whammy with the dive bomb setting to get that low. Thats my idea about that.

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

More likely a detuned baritone 7-string with tremolo.

No, I read and listened to an interview with Marten, they only used 8-strings in Catch 33, so its gotta be like I said an 8 with a trem (maybe) or a really low tuned bass.

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

If it has got trem then they got a new one since the other has a fixed Edge.

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

I'd wager Fredrik either added it in post-production or actually detuned the string using the machine head.

Yeah, rather that than using an 8-string trem, since they don't own 8-strings with trems.

In the demo-video Mårten Hagström did for it, he says it's 32".
