Re: Ibanez 8 string???

You're free to think whatever you want of course, but bear in mind you'd be wrong.

And yeah, don't ask me what's up with that rosewood fretboard because I don't know. It's really messy.

Also, I think Fredrik's camera might have a bit of a weird colour balance, but maybe it's just the direct sunlight.

I agree on the sloppy part. I have no other pics as detailed as these, no.

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

More like brown. Kind of walnutty. I'm guessing it's the direct sunlight, plus the colour balance might be off.
On stage, that thing would probably look black.

As for why it looks sloppily made, you'd most certainly have to ask Ibanez or Mr. Thordendal. I have no clue.

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

Tsorovan is definitely right about it being two trems cut in half and joined but they aren't the Lo-Pro's like on Dinos guitars, they're the FE fixed bridges (like the ones fitted to the JS2000 and Mick Thompsons new guitars).

The fixed Lo-Pro's on Dinos guitars are modified normal Lo-Pro's.

I banez wouldn't make a completely new 8 string trem just for one band. It would involve making a whole new set of casting moulds for the baseplate and that costs a lot of money, too much for just a couple of trems.

yea.. i know, i never realized that because i had never seen those close up pictures up until yesterday when i was posting.. and yes ive known about the fixed lo-pros too. i just had originally assumed a company like Ibanez would make a prototype like the 8-strings a little more "professionally" u know what i mean? but again, i guess thats what proto's are.. like a test guitar before they build a "clean" guitar.. know what i mean?

Ah, I always thought they were the exact same. Haven't seen any closeups on the Dino thing myself.

That thing looks really butchered.

Re: Ibanez 8 string???

It looks to be very sloppilly-made indeed. I am not suprised though, it is a prototype overall. But even so, I expected better from Ibanez. The body looks to be very sloppy, the neck and fretboard look terrible also. But it is a "tester" almost isnt it. It was their first try. No matter how it looks.......I still want to play it! lol, it still looks an awesome beast!
