Ibanez Backstop
Does anyone know where to order these? I don't really feel like auctioning for one. If anyone has some extra's please sell me one, and another question, if I put a
trem setter
in a guitar, could I take it out and put the backstop in?
Thanks
Corey

Re: Ibanez Backstop
I don't believe those are made anymore I could be wrong. You probably knew this all ready, if so, sorry.
The only place I've seen one available is that certain auction site.
The guy auctioning them off had a couple and the starting bid was over $100. I don't know what those went for new when they were available but that seemed a little high. Good luck.

Re: Ibanez Backstop
You can't buy them new. I don't know if you could ever buy them as a separate item. Think they only came fitted to certain
Ibanez guitars
.
The last one that sold on e bay went for about $260-$270 U.S. !!!!!!!!!
I was lucky with mine and got it for £20
.

Re: Ibanez Backstop
Try getting an
ESP Arming Adjuster
. It's more or less the same thing as the
Ibanez Backstop
but made by ESP. (Japan domestic product only though).

Re: Ibanez Backstop
Yeah, i saw a picture of one of the ESP ones and it looked like it did the same thing. It has a single spring/piston affair, almost like a Backstop cut in half.
Does anyone know if you can buy them from anywhere?
I suppose it has something to do with the fact that the Ibanez Backstop is a
Floyd Rose
liscensed product and they can't get away with selling the ESP version outside Japan.

Re: Ibanez Backstop
I found a picture of the ESP 'Arming Adjuster'
.
The only problem with it compared to the Backstop that I can see is that with a normal 3-spring trem (as found on most Ibanez guitars) you'd have to mount it to one side (or move the centre spring) where as the Backstop is designed to let the middle spring be kept in place with each of the two springs on the backstop sitting either side of it.
I'm not sure if it not being mounted dead centre would affect how it worked but the Backstop looks more 'balanced' to me.

Re: Ibanez Backstop
Looks like 1/2 of a backstop to me. I wouldn't doubt it's about that size to, and fits between 2 springs. Use 2 and you've got a backstop

Also, where could I order one of these ESP arming adjusters? Has anyone used one?

Re: Ibanez Backstop
I own one of the ESP arming adjusters. It came with my
ESP MII
-Deluxe that I got from Japan. I've removed it for comparison reasons and I gotta say, with it on I get a lot more sustain from the guitar. I haven't tried the Ibanez backstop, but the ESP Arming Adjuster is definitely a lot better than the
hipshot tremsetter
.
Btw, for those of you wondering how it would probably fit in an Ibanez, here's a guy in Japan that had one installed in his RG1880.
http://akizuki.net/rg1880.html
I'm thinking of yanking mine out and trying it out on one of my J-Customs. I'll try to post some pics of the one installed in my ESP MII once I can get my hands on a digital camera.

Re: Ibanez Backstop
Oh yeah, it appears that none of the North American ESP dealers even know what this is since it's not sold in North America. Ishibashi doesn't carry the arming adjuster either since they're not an ESP dealer (even though, oddly enough I got my ESP MII from them).
If anyone manages to find a place that sells em, please let me know. I'd like to get another 3 or 4 for my J-Customs.

Re: Ibanez Backstop
ok sorry to resurrect here, but whilst trying out an S470 i noticed that it had a backstop sorta thing in the ZR tremelo, does anyone know whether you could buy and fit the backstoppy bit to an edge pro? cos it felt so nice to have that stable trem, could do the whole bluesy one bent and pick another string thingy and it had really good sustain and didnt so the thing where all the other strings start vibrating even though u havnt touched them like a non stopped trem!!

Re: Ibanez Backstop
This so called ESP 'Arming Adjuster' looks exactly like the original version of the Rockinger Blackbox (which the Rockinger guys claim to be their own invention made somewhere in the early 80s).
They sell a slightly updated version at
www.rockinger.com
.
