Ibanez RG 7620 VS K7?

Hello everyone,
Wanted to know if theres a big difference in quality beetwin
the two, Im actually more into mahagony than basswood but
it looks like people are selling their K-7's now for alot of money
because they are not in production anymore.
And in general, are they really good guitars in the 7
strings market or they are pretty much average?
I guess they wont sound as good as a schecter Hellraiser 7?
Thanks,
Trippled.

What are ya talking about not sounding as good as a schecter? I've never played a schecter that I can say I enjoyed. The 7620's are very good guitars for their price, I've heard some say they like them better than their UV's. For the K7 personally I don't like the guitar itself but it is a signature from Ibanez so it must be a quality instrument too. I haven't played the K7 so I can't really compare each other.

The 7620 are great guitars and if you are patient you can still get a nice one for a great price. IMO the K7 is a better guitar with the mahogany body, but will be quite a bit more pricey. I just can't get around the K7 inlay. I would go with a 7620 and a pickup swap.

Mahogany body is really a preference, I wouldn't mind it with either, but I can't get around the price and the inlay though. I do like the U-Bar on the trem of the K-7 though, well I should say it is interesting. Wouldn't take it over normal probably

RG7620 are indeed great guitars. I've been playing them for 10 years now and although nothing compares to the older UVs, the 7620s play great and sound good imo. I'd love to own a K7 because I like mahogany, I had an S7420 that was mahogany and I loved the sound of it.

The K7 is a fantastic guitar, don't be fooled by the inlay. Its as close as you can get to a UV, heck its almost better because its mahogany. I had a chance to play around with my buddies, who is the lead guitarist for Skultoboggan, and its sick.

Huh? You really can´t compare all those guitars.

A Universe is the deluxe version of a 7620 / 1527 I would say and this is it!

In our Band we prefer the 7620 and the Universe as lead guitar - they just "scream" more, got more highs. Chainsaw ...?

I play rhythm with my K-7 or Apex 1 - they are more bassy... got thicker necks.

And a Schecter? No!

I would get a newer Universe or a K-7 or Apex 1. There are quality and sound differences compared to a 7620. They´re just too old for me but still good guitars!

AND I would change pickups in all of them...

D-Sonic for basswood and D-Activator for mahagony

I'm sorry, I mean UV as in quality wise, obviously the mahogany and HH setup means its a totally different guitar as in sound wise.

Ok, so if Mahogany is what you're looking for why not save a bunch of coin and pick up a S7320? I mean, the K-7 is a good guitar and all that (never played one) but you're paying that high dollar simply because it's a sig model..Doesn't make sense to me. Unless of course you prefer the RG style body.

Well, the K7 is made in Japan which imo, is better. Also, the 7620 is MIJ, i'd go for one of those.
