Ibanez RG7421+DiMarzios identification?

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to find out what guitar I've been playing for the last 3 years ..

Since it was given to me as a gift, and it wasn't new when I got it, I don't have any manuals or documents, but after doing some research on this wonderful site, I think it may very well be a RG7421.

- Fixed bridge
- one piece neck WITHOUT bubinga stripe(s)
-"Japan" imprint, the succesory model is made in korea right?
- serial#: F9902650

Now another other question is the pickups:
My dad was told by the man he once bought the guitar from that he had taken out the stock picks and put in DiMarzios.
I just checked that, and indeed they are, quote "DiMarzio pickups, made in USA", however there is no serial# or anything else engraved on any of them.

I have absolutely no idea how to find out what type of DiMarzios these 2 are, (you can't tell from the wiring and color of wax used, can you?)

photos(~400kb):

Take the neck off, and have a look at A) the neck pocket Stamp and b) the neck heel stamp ...

I am not overly sure, but i believe the Korean hardtail 7's had "square pickup ears" whereas, your has the typical DiMarzio "triangular shaped ears"

I'm pretty sure the RG7421 had a bound neck, Maybe it's an RG7621 ???

I'm sure someone who knows more will post correctly

The RG7421 did not have a bound neck, you're thinking of the RG7321.

thank you very much rob!
didn't know there was any stamp/imprint beneath the neck..

I took the neck of and there IS a RG7 621 Stamp on both neck and body - which is weird because the 621 features a 3 piece neck, right?
Mine's definetly a one piece...
Also, if the stock Picks of the 621 are Dimarzios (?) or built by-for.. do they have the mentioned "DiMarzio pickups made in USA" engravings?...

Anybody here with a RG7621 at hand who could confirm this?

Thank you guys!

OT-/ By the way my new SZ320bk+Marshall AVT20 sound soo nice! / -OT

That guitar there is a RG7621. No doubt about it. I got one EXACTLY the same. Mine does not have the bubinga stripe in the back of the neck either and I have never seen one with it. Only RG7421's.

The pickups are DiMarzio New-7's and are often misrepresented as Blaze 2's. The pickups in your guitar are stock despite the story that was given to your dad. The hex head pole pieces are indicative of DiMarzio's, also the routings for the pickup ears are nearly pyramidal (another RG7621 feature) if you look at the same routings on a RG7421, you will notice that they are very different. It is one heck of a sweet guitar.

BTW, excellent photography.

I second that...
Although I have to admit I was planning on selling the thing after I first played my new SZ...But after plugging it into my - also newly aquired and yes I am so damn broke now - Marshall avt I was really literally startled from how good it sounded.
So I guess I'm getting rid of my Line6 Flextone now instead.

hehe, my mums digital camera must actually be the single ugliest and cheapest in the whole country, but I guess it serves its purpose. (you didn't get to see the 50+ out of focus shots though )
