Ibanez RG7620 refinished to DY

Eh.. Im getting better at painting, still not great though. but its coming along.

Bored with normal RG7620 and wanted to do one humbucker for now while im waiting for my Chris Woods guitar, so I also decided to do a DY because it was the only colour of paint I actually had around, go figure..

Most likely am going to sell it when my CW body gets here, but that should be like 3 months lol..

Tremol-no doesnt seem too stable as they say, but it works. I didnt get any locking nut pads for this RG7620 so I cant have it floating.. but what do you expect for a $250 RG7620.. Its cool though, I almost never use the trem, so it can hold for now.

DSonic 7 is intense. I really like it compared to the 6 string version which I found is kinda weak.

Paint was still not great, kinda uneven in some spots, but I havent had a 7 string working for 3 months so I just lost patients and put it together.

Which technique did you use to fill the neck pickup/tone knob routes?

good old fashion wood putty.. lol but uh one thing about that, you gotta really maintain it for a long time. I didnt start the actual paint til like 4-5 weeks into it, because I wanted to get the sanding perfect, along with the putty shrinking.. it shrinks and you gotta put more on it to make it full again, then just sand it down. its alotta work but it can become decent if you keep working at it, and let it dry completely before finishing

I have to admit, that looks very cool. I wouldn't say it looks exactly like Desert Yellow, but it looks good nonetheless. Are you planning to add a nice, glossy clear coat layer to it at some point? Also, what kind of paint did you use and how did you apply it?

I just used spraypaint, and afew clearcoats.. I was considering a glossy lacquer but I dunno, since I don't really plan on keeping this guitar. Im selling the body/neck as soon as my Chris Woods guitar gets completed, so dont think I have the patients anymore to take everything apart and wait any longer. Just enjoying playing it for now.

ahh yea. i hate patience/patients... whatever.. thats the reason i suck at poker and thats the reason i suck at refinishing lol because refinishing a guitar is 80% prep, and 20% actual paint. Im more of a "come on lets reassemble right now!" person.
