idea for a custom 7 string - ax 7 w/fixed bridge piezo saddl

after playing my rg 7621 unplugged, i decided that it would be realy cool to be able to amplify the acoustic qualities of the guitar. then i looked at my guitar collection and noticed my trend of all of my guitars having different body shapes, but being the same color (black).

(ps; i know the ax7 has different acoustic qualities from an rg, but i don't think thats important)

as a conclusion of this pondering, i decided it would be realy cool to have an ax 7 string with piezo pickups in the saddles... * one question though, would i be able to get replacement saddles for the fixed 7 bridge equipped with piezo pickups? * i know it would take quite a bit of electronics work and whatnot, as well as routing and filling in cavities with . . . something . . . *¿wood putty? *anyway, i'll try to photoshop a pic of an existing ax 7 to make it look like what i'm thinking of...

just need to know about the availability of piezo equipped saddles that would fit on a fixed 7 string bridge... *

Graphtec sells their FAAS [fat ass acoustic system] saddles in a pack for 7 string. *they are the sandard, strat-type saddles which should fit the 7621. *the pictures on the Graphtec site show the wires from each saddle being run along the top of the guitar body and into the bridge pickup rout, so if you don't mind the wires showing you could install those saddles without any routing.

the Graphtec saddles will make the magnetic pickups sound different than with the stock metal saddles.

RMC also makes piezo saddles but I'm not sure they sell 7 together - only 6. *And, they appear to be pretty expensive as they also provide for synth abilities.

Fishman also make piezo saddles but I'm not sure if they have a Powerbridge option of just the saddles themselves.

Similarly, I'm not sure if L.R. Baggs offers just the saddles of their X-Bridge for sale.

If you find out anything, please post back here as I've also considered replacing the saddles of a used Carvin I've contemplated buying and replacing them with piezo-equipped units.

i don't remember where i heard this but i was told if you order from RMC, you can get a set of 7.

You can. I've been in contact with RMC, and they will pretty much do what you need/want to set you up. The saddles (according to RMC president) will work extremely well as piezo/acoustic saddles, (just need an acoustic preamp. EMG, Fishman, L.R. Baggs, Graphtech, etc. make them. Could be internal or external, your choice) and of course, they also have synth capabilities. (I plan on using them for both capabilities in a project 7 as well.) Expensive, however. The Graphtech saddles may be the way to go. If you have a Carvin 7 with a fixed bridge, they'll work. I have no idea what the bridge structure is like on the AX.
