If you want something REALLY different with an acoustic tone

Take a look at 3716570928 on Ebay. I don't know the seller, but I know the builder very well. These are very cool guitars. They're not at all versatile, but their acoustic/electric sounds are spectacularly good. They're true feather weights at around 5 lbs. and while I don't consider them to be really pretty, they're very nicely made.

I realy like the look of the guitar, except for the pick guard shape.

Asthetics are not Dave's strongest suit or frankly he'd be seriously famous by now.

I would have liked it better with no pickguard at all, but the body is a fairly thin piece of solid Cedar with the back completely scooped out. So there's no way to route the body for interal electronics. Instead Dave has all the electronics mounted to the underside of that pickguard. I'm sure that has at least a bit to do with the shape and size of it.

Huh. Sounds interesting. What do they sound like, Jim? You're right about the looks, though. It leaves a bit to be desired.

Here's a link to a page of sound samples so you can judge for yourself. One of them is a clip that I recorded for him. I thihk it has one of the warmest electric/acoustic sounds I've eve heard. That's pretty much all it does, but it does it really well.
