I'm going nuts, I can't decide HELP!!!!!
OMFG I'm seriously pulling my hair out over this, its killing me. I have my choices narrowed down to like 5 guitars.
First off, the cheap
Schecter Omen
-7:
http://www.adirondackguitar.com/left...cter/omen7.htm
Its cheap, under $400, so if I get it, and don't like it, not that big a deal, but theres a chance that I could love it, and put more money into it by upgrading the pickups and still have saved a few hundred bucks. Downside is that theres also an equal chance thats its total junk. The HC reviews tend to support this.
2nd, the C-7 Hellraiser aka "The Nevermore Guitar":
http://www.adirondackguitar.com/left...hellraiser.htm
I'm a huge Nevermore fan so I know this guitar is more than capable of not only putting out great tone, but also plays and shreds really well too. Theres 2 things about it i'm a bit weary of though, 1, I hear the neck is huge and 2, its really, really heavy. Its fairly expensive at $735, but its loaded with 707's which would cost about $250 on there own, which more than makeup this price.
3rd, Schecter 007 Elite
http://www.adirondackguitar.com/left.../007_elite.htm
OMG this is one dead sexy quilt top guitar, and I love the clean neck with only the 12th fret diamond inlay, wow. Another positive thing is the shorter scale, 25.5" instead of the 26.5" like the rest of the 7's, this is some seriously big brownie points since I have small hands. Big price ($640) for the fact that it has absolute junk pickups
4th, Agile InterSceptor
http://www.rondomusic.net/interceptstringthruleft.html
If I were going on looks alone, this would be it, however its a fairly no name guitar with probably crappy parts and ****ty pickups, and reDONKulous 27" scale body, Yikes!! I'm guessing the quality isn't any better than say the Omen 7.
Lastly, screw the 7th string, i'm not going to use it and I might as well get the best lefty guitar Ibanez makes, the Prestige RG1570L. $700 for the best neck, bridge and probably best overall guitar on quality and feel, but I'm going to have to sink $200 more into it for some killer pickups. Oh, and I'm noticing online stores and what not have slowly taken this guitar out of their catalogs and inventory, which tells me this may be the end of the line for the 1570L, so I better get it while I can.
So please, tell me what I should do before I go nuts!!!!!!!
and if theres any other lefty options out there with a price no greater than, say $700 please let me know, I've been looking everywhere..

Re: I'm going nuts, I can't decide HELP!!!!!
Well, i woulnd't want to take a chance with that Agile unless youve seen some good reviews. It's a beatiful guitar however.
i was thinking about getting the 007, but it has a single coil as the
neck pickup
, so that wouldn't work for me.
At my guitar center, the number one guitars they stock are BCrich bronze series. After that, it is probably schecter omens. I have played many and i assure you, they are crappy.
Ahh,
jeff loomis
's weapon of choice. The olny reason why I chose to get an RG1527 over this is becasue of the fairly large neck and scale I couldn't get used to. it doesn't come with a case either.
so........IBANEZ!

Re: I'm going nuts, I can't decide HELP!!!!!
If you go the Schecter route, try Drum City Guitar Land - a slightly better price, and awesome service. Also, get it in Black Cherry.
Honestly (as a Hellraiser owner for the last week or so), while the neck is thicker than an
Ibanez neck
, a lot of the reason for my first impression of the neck feeling so big was the scale length of 26.5". Now that I'm used to going back and forth between the two they're fine., and I really dig the feel/profile of the neck, it just feels substantial in yoru hands.
As for not being able to "shred" on a thicker neck and needing a Wizard profiled or something, I've heard that a lot around here before, but my personal feelings are if you can't rip it up on a thicker neck as well as a thinner one, you're just making excuses. The UV7PWH I own just feels like it's built for speed, but for some reason the Hellraiser is the guitar that seems to lend itself the best to fast
alternate picking
. No clue why, but either way I don't feel like either guitar is holding me back or anything.
So, of those choices, I'd say the Hellraiser, hands down. Though, if you want some additional feedback, swing over to
www.sevenstring.org
- we've got a small buy vocal lefty minority over there, and they'd be more than willing to offer you their expert advice. Just, don't let them get started on maple syrup.

I'd go for the Ibanez or the Hell Raiser depending on what kind of neck you want.

Re: I'm going nuts, I can't decide HELP!!!!!
Out of all those, i'd pick the Schecter Hellraiser. Even though I have never played one, i've heard many great things about them. I have played the 007 Elite, aside from the neck being a little thicker for my tastes, it did play nice.

Re: I'm going nuts, I can't decide HELP!!!!!
My choices would be either the Hellraiser or the 007 Elite, in black cherry (my Elite is black, but only because I found a good deal on a used one). The Schecter necks really are nice and not as 'huge' as some people say (especially the Elite which is standard scale). I like my Elite a lot, the only downside to it is that the lower horn can be a bit cramped sometimes.
Incidently, the 'absolute junk' pickups actually sound good. I was planning on swapping them out before actually hearing them, but have left them alone. They're the only 'Duncan Design' pickups I've ever heard that actually sound good.

Well really, what are you looking for with this new guitar? If you want a trem, obviously the ibanez is the choice. Seeing how it's the only one of your choices with one equipped.
Me personally, I'd go for a 7, preferably with a trem. But since that isn't an option, and you aren't looking to dish out the cash for a custom like some of us lefties here
, we'll have to move on..
Sorry, but I think the 007 Elite is ass ugly, and the pickup config isn't my thing at all. So scratch that.
The Agile, i've never played one before, but im guessing the quality of the components isn't as good as the Schecters. However, I think that whatever cheap feel it might have in the parts, can easily be resolved with replacements. Which wouldn't be too expensive. Also, the agile has a slimmer neck than the Schecters, if you have your heart set on an Ibanez feel.
If you decide to go with the remaining Schecters, the Omen-7, and the Hellraiser, it basically comes down to what type of pickups you want in your guitar. If you don't mind EMGs, or want to give em a go, then go with the hellraiser. If active pickups aren't your thing, or you have your eyes on a couple Dimarzio's you want to swap in, then get the Omen-7. Personally, between the two, i'd get the hellraiser. Simply because i've never had an EMG
equipped guitar
, and I have more than enough passive pickup guitars.
Oh, and Black Cherry is a must. I mean, it's a lefty guitar, with a color choice other than black. Come on now..

Well, the DD pickups that came with my Jackson were so bad, I played like 3 notes and had to tear them out like that second, so when I saw what those were, I just assumed the they were the same, but, mabie enough people complained about them and they actually put more than 3 winding in it and left out the rubber fridge magnets.
Koss, I really don't have my heart set on really 1 thing. Ever since my buddy from Brazil introduced me to his K7, I've been really gassing to try out a 7 string. I was just so blown away by the quality and sound he got from that thing, it just amazed me to think I dissed that guitar for so long based on looks and the fact that is a Korn guitar. The neck felt so comfortable and thin, and the action was so low and clean with no buzzing whatsoever.
I've have been wanting for a while anyways, to get away from the Floyds because there just such a pain in the ass to deal with and I don't really have a need for them for the most part.
What I really want in general is a really high quality guitar that has a ultra smooth, thin neck that I can get retarded low action on without any
fret buzz
or dead bends, and that parts on it arn't going to fall apart after only a few weeks (like my $500 Jackson
). I'm sick of cheap guitars us leftys have to deal with on a daily basis.
How is the 1570? Aside from the wood, the frets, and fancy adornments, Is its playability comparable to a VWH? Whats the difference between a Prestige and a Jem Prestige neck?
OK, heres the kicker, I've crunched the numbers and "technically" I can afford Rich's RG3120L. This is by far the one and only guitar that I've ever really gotten a hard on over. I've looked at this guitar a billion times on his site and all I can think of is the scene in Wayne's World when he's drooling over that 68' Strat (I think it was a 68')..
http://www.ibanezrules.com/images/us...l/P1010058.JPG
oh yeah, thats hot.....gotta go get a tissue now...
But realistically, is its playabilty, tone and and overall quality really worth 2x the price of the 1570? I really don't know anything about the 3120 other than the fact that it being a lefty, makes its rarer than Rosie O'Donnell skipping over the dessert section at a all u can eat buffet. Anyone know what pickups are in it?

Dude, get the 7. You'll thank me.
If EMG's aren't your thing, I THINK Schecter makes a C7 Blackjack lefty, too. Not sure, though. Sure, the neck's thicker than what you're used to most likely, but you'll be surprised how quickly you get used to it, and like I said earlier, I don't by the "you need a thinner neck to shred" argument.

Re: I'm going nuts, I can't decide HELP!!!!!
Seeing as the Ibanez comes with a case, is cheaper than the hellraiser (and probably better quality) and not much more than the next Schecter down. If money isn['t the issue I'd get the Ibanez.
