a fretless stone fretboard guitar would sound awesome and should be your next project!
plus if you ever start making stone fretless necks for guitars I think I would have to buy one
and dont do anything about the bridge just yet see how low you can get the saddles to go first... you probably only want to lower the treble side 2-3 mm and that might be doable without a re-carve

looking at the fingerboard joining the body, i think that may be the reason the action is so high. you have it almost flush (makes it look a lot neater actually!) but the fretboard is normally a couple of mm above the body.
recessing the bridge or shimming the neck would put the bridge
base plate
in the normal range of distances below the fingerboard, which should solve it.
i think!

Re: Insane guitar
Timi_h, I cant shim the neck. It is a neck-thru-guitar. The reworking of the body only takes an hour, so it is no big deal.
Devo, I'll make anything in stone you want.... well almost. Unfortunately handcraft stoneguitars are expensive: $70/ h. And this guitar has taken me... about 60 h to complete. But if you only want a fretboard or a neck we are only talking pocketchange...
I just remembered that I am not allowed to make bussines here...
komorok@yahoo.com
if anyone is seriously interested in stone.
The weight so far is I think: 15 kg, 33 ibs.
Anymore advice on alternative tunings would be most welcome...

Re: Insane guitar
Right... I've got tone. Lots of it. We didn't have time to test it on a big amp, but I've got a clear tone, even on the low D. But I guess all of the things that has been noticed are thanks to the outstanding pick-ups! I am in love with them.
The sound of the single-coiled neck-pick-up is incredibly sharp. I have as much attack as anyone could ever want.
The sound from the bridge-pick has attack and still bass and punch.
Ok, back to the reality: I still have to resculpt the bridgearea tomorrow... cya!

Re: Insane guitar
Ha ha haaa. That thing has sustain for ages. Literally the stuff that the Spinal Tap-movie was made out of. "You know, you can go like 'AAAH' on the guitar, go make yourself a sandwich, come back, and it'll still be like, 'AAAH!'"
Du borde dra lite riff från Meshuggah...
I soooo wanna get my hands on that guitar.

Re: Insane guitar
well, it is for sale now and I just want to get rid of the monster. My life is still circling around it and I want it to circle around my wife again.
It will be seen on Artwaygallery from 070912, and it will stand there until it is sold. Highest bidder will get it. Lowest price is 189000 kronor or $ 27,835.
Tomtebogatan 15 in Stockholm, Sweden. It will stand there with a Marshallrig. Everyone who can is welcome!
I cant really understand how big this has become since I started asking you guys in February. You can listen to it live on radio on rockklassiker 106,7 070912, 07.30 CET.
