To put it into perspective, for that money you could buy all of the below:
10th Jem
20th Jem
90th Jem
DNA
GMC
7VWH
and still have change!

Yeah I thought that. Hell, that's a down payment on a house right there.

Re: Insane guitar
The lot of you, be quiet.
I've seen more ridiculous pricing on much less spectacular guitars. Plus, it's being sold at an art gallery - not a guitar-store. It does hold substantial value as literally a work of art. While I wouldn't buy it myself in the forseeable future - but I can definately see someone else do it.

Ok, well when it sells for that much come back here and show us all and I'll eat a huge slice of humble pie.
We were merely thinking of other things you could spend that kind of dough on, or at least
I
was.

umm, no.
most famous living artists don't get that kind of cash for their pieces. I mean I could buy an original Giger and still have some change left over.

Re: Insane guitar
Hmmm. I did not set the price. The galleryowner did that. But If you count the hours it has taken me and add it to the cost of the hardware, I think that the pricing is quite fair.
80 hours Drawings, calculations. At least! $50/h
80 hours in the workshop. At least! $70/ h
Stone, $500
Pickups, tuningdevices, fretboardtooling, bridge and on and forth. $1500
And the galleryowner will take her part of the price... I can not see any problem. It is not made by a CNC-machine either. It is made by hand. And i still hav not heard that anyone in the world has ever done a guitar with a thru-neck in stone. It seems to be the only one.

That comes to $11,600. Good luck with the sale, though it seems a shame that the thing wont go to someone who will play it

Re: Insane guitar
Well, in that case, I'm selling my Carvin as a work of art, and not a guitar, at £14,000.

Re: Insane guitar
Good luck with the sale Komorok, its turned out even more amazing than i expected.
For those who dont know by the way, putting granite or marble worktops in your house will probably cost more than most guitars and they're nothing in comparison to this.
This is something very unique and looks beautifully crafted by hand, its as much as piece of art as any sculpture. I think its worth every penny.
On top of that a gallery owner has set the price, these people know what they're doing and they wouldnt just set it for nothing.
Also look at some of the crap that gets sold for millions which is apparently "Art" like that crappy painting of a tin of soup, i'd take this anyday.

not really, were having 28sqft of Granite installed and its under $4000, which is less than the cost of a really awesome guitar from the Jackson or ESP
