Re: Insane guitar

No one bought it. I am not really surprised.

The reason I made the guitar was because I wondered what it would sound
like. And a lot of the motivation an inspiration came from Meshuggah. I mailed
them in 2007 but I got no response.

This summer I just stumbled across Fredrik, so I said hi and explained what I
had made because of them. He sounded interested bud I heard nothing until
this saturday when he SMSed me. I called him up and we decided that he would
pick me and the guitar up on tuesday ( tomorrow).

The ultimate would be if he ordered a tailor made guitar from me. But I don´t
think it will happen. My craft is too expensive. Any way... to meet the band
Meshuggah and see their studio is quite nice too.

I don´t think this guitar ever will be sold, but it is a nice centerpiece in the
showroom at my work.

Re: Insane guitar

It has been done. Fredrik Thordendahl has now played my guitar. The circle is now
complete. Exactly what he said must remain between him and me because of various
reasons. But I can tell you this much: We are going to meet again and then we will
discuss a tailormade guitar for him.

I don´t know what else to write. I am so damn happy!

Nope, a stone 8 string with fanned frets that Komorok made as an experiment.

Congrats Komorok! Must be awesome meeting Fredrik!

Re: Insane guitar

Actually I took this photo only.... no videos... because of one
simple reason. I wanted to experience this without thinking of
photos. When I am not photographing I am more present and
I seldom want to be as present as I wanted to be last tuesday.

But I promise you this: Fredrik is on vacation right now and he
said that he would call me when he returns. And I believe that
we will have a looong talk about improvements if I am going to
make another guitar. And I presume that he will play it again.
And if so I will record a video if it is OK with him. I know he en-
dorses Ibanez-guitars and maybe som strange contract para-
graph prohibits him in some ways.

"Must be awesome meeting Fredrik!"

Yes, he is a very nice person. I really like him. Interesting to talk
to. Down to earth and calm. And at last I got all my albums
signed

The shape of the guitar IS Conklinbased/copied. Conklin is aware
of it.

/ Mikael

Re: Insane guitar

Wow dude way to break all the rules and haters!!! that guitar looks amazing. I 'm a Master Tile Marble Granite guy and I though about doing this also. But that was years ago and I never did it. Everybody said the same thing its going to weight to much it won't sound good.

Way to stick to your guns and make it for yourself. " to Hell with what the people say!"

Thats killer you got to meet Meshuggha.

It weight way too much! 33 ibs i believe. It sounds good. I don´t really know. I´m just a drummer. But the guitarists who have played it likes the sound, so build your own. I am shure that any master stonecraftsman can make one. I am not a master craftsman... Using your CNCs will save you some time. But thats boring...

I hope you will make one. And of course yours will be perfect. Because you know what a guitarist want. Please link to your future build-thread here. I don´t visit Jemsite that often and I´d hate to miss it.

Have fun! Good night./ Mikael
