Re: Insane guitar

The neck will be in stone as well, but not the fretboard, since I couldnt find a stonecuttingblade to cut the frets with... Otherwise I would do it in stone.

The work is progressing slowly. My frontstone arrived today. Here is a picture of the beautiful one.

Tropical brown marble:
http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u...t=DSC00036.jpg

I grinded of 13 mm from the front of the stone today to make place for my precious frontstone. Tomorrow i will prepare the frontstone so I can glue it to the black granite-core.

Before grinding:

And after:

I have recieved the measurement from Lundgren pickups, so i can grind holes for them as well.
My bridge is almost finished and will probably arrive soon. And to my joy he didn't make only one. He made SIX! Serialproduction of bizzarre stoneguitars: here I come!

Thats it for now.

Re: Insane guitar

This project seems to be dancing all over the thin line between genius and madness.

Christ, I thought my mahogany RG weighed alot, but 44 lbs...

Well, atleast you won't need to go to the gym after playing that! Weight lifting in itself!

Re: Insane guitar

I have now started the work on the frontstone. It has now been cut to fit into the V-like form I grinded on the big stone.

http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u...t=DSC00037.jpg

And I started the grinding and drilling to fit in the pick-ups ond controls.

http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u...t=DSC00040.jpg

... the machine I am using hasn't been used for about three years and it broke down about a minute before these photos were taken. So I have to finish it with a handheld drill... Life sucks sometimes.

The time has now come to decide what potentiometers to use and how to connect all the electronics. So here is where I need help. HELP!!!

Re: Insane guitar

After two weeks of no progress I have finally had the time to work on my beloved project again. I have not ordered the pick-ups yet because I'm low on money. Aren't we all? Anyway, if you think the pick-up holes look rough, it is because I can make them perfect when I recieve the pick-ups.

My friend told me that the bridge is almost finished. He will probably start working on the fretboardtemplate soon.

I am beginning to see the very far end of the tunnel here... I have hopes that the guitar will be finished at the end of the summer. I tell you this now, so we can laugh together when we see the guitar in two years...

Re: Insane guitar

i have not been able to work in a few weeks, since I unfortunately got a chip in my eye. It turned out to leave me with only one eye... Just kidding. It went well. But I couldn't work for some time.
Today was a good day. I finished the inside-work, so I have now FINALLY glued the two stones together. The fun side of the project will start next time I have to little to do in the workshop.

The upperhorn-reinforcement glued in place:

Microfone- and electric componentcompartmentplace grinded and drilled:

The stones glued together:

I guess i have no choice now but to order the pick-ups and the tuning-thingies. Bollocks.

Anyway... i seem to be about two months ahead in my work now. It could be finished BEFORE Sweden Rock!

And thank you everyone for following my mentally challenged project.

Re: Insane guitar

The shape is finally cut out! Not much more to say. Here is the proper photography. For once I brought my camera and not my telephone.

By the way. It doesn't really feel heavy... strange. Two thirds of the stone in the neck will be cut away soon. After that I will try to weigh the thing.
