JEM/RG7620GMC Hybrid (well not quite!)

I bought a GMC swirled 7420 body from "barbarelaxe" off of the bay, and put all the bits from my 7620 on it... Thought I'd include a pic.

Really pleased with the end result (although I need to replace the knobs and switch tip for better ones)!

nice, I'd get some UV pyramid inlay's on that baby, even though it is already the coolest thing on the block

Did the Lo Pro 7 fit without any modification? I know the 6 string versions aren't interchangable but if the 7s are, I'm gonna do it

what are you talking about, the Edge and Lo Pro are interchangeable and I'm pretty sure the Edge7 and Lo Pro 7 are interchangeable too.

I believe he was referring to the fact that a 7420 body would have been routed for a Lo TRS and a Lopro Edge would definitely be an aftermarket retrofit/modification. The shape of the pickup routes are the dead giveaway that was a 7420 body and not a 7620 which would have pointed tab routes.

Stunning guitar by the way, I like it a lot.

Barbarelaxe is a great guy. Met him briefly about 4 years ago on the Old B.C. Rich Forums. Or was it the Moser custom shop Shredder forums ? Anywho, looks amazing - i am not too keen about the plain fretboards, but then again no guitar has been the same since the jem came. How does she play ?

Re: JEM/RG7620GMC Hybrid (well not quite!)

Thanks, Yeah, I'd like pyramids too but in the meantime I think I'll just colour the dots green. I did some the dots on another guitar red using nail varnish which looked cool and lasted ages, if I can get the right shade I'll do that otherwise I might try enamel.
To answer a few questions:
1. The trem rout was modified by to a lion's claw by barbarelaxe so that allowed the trem to fit.
2. the trem post holes were smaller on the 7420 so had to be enlarged but at least they were in the right place! (In fact this caused a slight problem which barbarelaxe fixed before sending. Actually he was willing to do a 7620 body for me due to the post hole problem but I liked the swirl too much and couldn't wait!)
3. The back plate that covers the springs is slightly larger, but, I made the one I had fit.
4. Might have to fit another spring as the three I have are stretched as far as they can be, which they weren't on the other body.
5. Neck needs a slight shim (I like the action low and have had to do that on most of my guitars even a VWH)
6. Everything else was a straight swap.
7. Yes it was clear coated, very shiny too!
