Just got my first 7 string.....(and i need help too)

And guess what, its a RG 2077 XL. Beautiful guitar. totally beautiful, reminds me of the K7. But i do have one problem though. Seeing as i have never used anything else but a fixed bridge in my entire life of guitar playing, could someone tell me how to get the bridge back parrarell. The stock tuning was one step lower. So i loosen the locking on the nuts and tuned to a (A,E,A,D,G,B,E,) which is the tuning i'm intending to have on the guitar. After tuning the guitar, the bridge moved out and i understand this is a normal thing, but how do i go about getting back parrarell? Thanks.

I know absolutely nothing about trem bridges, so I can't help you, but congratulations on the 2077. I understand it's a terrific instrument.

thanks a lot JIM, you were the main reason why i got the XL neck. After reading your post about your 7421XL and listening to your Jazz playing, i knew the XL neck was what i needed. Thanks again!!!

The long and the short of it, nosferatu, is that you have to tighten your trem springs (more tension to counteract the added string tension.) Read the tech pages for precise info.

Basically pop off the back plate, loosen the string pads at the nut, and keep tinkering with the screws in the spring cavity and retuning until it's where you want it.

ok, this is the strange part. I loosened the string pads and tighten the trem springs but the bridge isnt moving at all. Could i be doing anything else wrongly?

Ok, let me get this straight, after i tune the guitar, how many times do i have to turn the screws before i retune it again?

The pitch will start rising as soon as you start screwing in the claw, then you'll have to tune down to get back to concert pitch.

Adjust the claw so you get the bridge about halfway to where you want it. Tuning down will get you just about there.

Three words: "Trial and Error." Keep making small adjustments and retuning until you get it right. Expect about an hour, maybe more, if this is your first time ever doing this.

Ok, i finally got it done and now it sounds absolutely killer. Thanks a lot for all your feedback. I'll try posting some pics of the guitar soon...
